Haha yeah you inspired me to make a sandwich. It was ham and mozz and a tomato from my garden. I used horse radish mayo instead of regular mayo and it was too spicy. Should have just used regular mayo, there's my sandwich regret.

Giving the little piss-ants on the counter a tasty treat. They'll engorge themselves and carry the poison back to the queen.

It's amazing how inefficient their trail is. It goes all the way to the sink, then makes a u-turn under the edge and travels the long way back around the counter to the wall, then down the wall and under the sink and follow the pipe through a hole in the wall. If they were to take a shortcut, they could save at least 10 feet (~3 meters) of walking. Silly ants.

I'm preparing to go geode and agate hunting in Ellensburg, Washington again this year. These pics were from my trip in 2012.

This is a luxury restroom. Most times, you just dig a hole and bury it like a dog.

This is one of many basalt ridges I like to climb around on.

Here's a good shot of one of the most luxurious rough mountain lodges I have ever seen. This one has shutters on the windows, a wood stove and a wrap-around deck. Many are simply a roof and a pile of sticks to sleep on.

After a break, we wandered off into the hills and found a good spot to start digging and breaking rocks.

Here's a small oblong geode I uncovered while digging. I managed to get this one out without breaking it.

Went to Mt Ranier last weekend.

Cool blue water.

The last switchback on the way to Sunrise Park (elevation ~6500').

Frozen Lake was not totally frozen.

Clouds starting to cover the mountain top.

A pseudo-random stop along the ridge.

More snow in the middle of summer.

Happened upon mama bear and cub hanging out across the valley.

They checked us out, but were occupied eating whatever they eat when not eating hikers. lol

Checking out White River.

This is the fun way to cross the river. Unfortunately, the cable was broken.

...and today...
Dropped a kayak in near Wye park - heading up the Columbia river.

Birds hanging out near the Riverview wildlife preservation.

On the way back, found a nice calm spot just downstream from a small island.

Nearing the causeway to Bateman island.

A blue herring hanging out near the island.

I kayaked up the Yakima river, then floated back down into the Columbia. It was about an 8.5 mile round trip. ...shoulda took more pictures.

So jealous. I would love to do that. It looks like the perfect trip. Except for the bears. Bears freak me out. Most of the places I go are wonderfully bear-free. But in retrospect, you actually had it perfect. You got great pictures of the bears and didn't get mauled. That's how I feel when I run across rattlesnakes and scorpions. (I camped in a place a few weeks ago that was infested with scorpions. It was a bit unnerving. But I got great pics!)

Anyway, beautiful pictures!

On the way to Spirit Lake at Mt. St. Helen. Stopped at Meta Lake and found this.

It's a miniature frog orgy. They were piled a couple inches deep in a few places.

This dragonfly managed to stay still long enough for a photo.

I wanted to swim out to one of the islands, but the water was way too cold to do without a wetsuit.
