This is a work in progress of another free drawing I'm doing for someone. This is something new I'm trying out, I manually draw in those lines to try and get a better idea of a 3D form before I prepare to shade. |

Work in Progress of another portrait of Opheliablue that she let me work on. The eyes for the first 3 WIP are messed up a bit, but that'll be fixed. Just wanted to get started on something to be productive for once. |

Nice, bro. |

did you draw the outline freehand or traced? some how i think you should keep going at this and get more tone. i think your pencil drawings are my favorite. |
|
For outlines for people in general, I either use the grid method or just trace the outline. It's because unlike doing something like a full scale body, my patience is short when trying to free-hand the face alone. Seeing as it's just a bunch of lines, the shading part is really the difficult part. It's just that if I were to free-hand it, I'd probably have to spend another 3-4 hours just to get the outline decently. |

The hair and facial proportions look great. It's just that the outlines look a bit choppy, most noticeably the hair at the shoulder, like they've been cut out with scissors. Maybe that was the look you were going for, but it just seems the edges need to be smoothed out or something and then it would be awesome. |
|
Thanks Dianeva! Yeah, this was a rushed drawing, and I'll try to change the ends of the hair a bit more. I usually use the outline for the base to fill in black, then erase the lines, and then form the hair strands with the hair brush I use. Thanks again for the response Dianeva, will update the drawing as soon as I can. |

i think that you should be looking at all the angles of the face more closely. for example then, the right side of her nose (our right side,) on the bridge, there is that darker drop right at the edge of what we can and can't see. i see that on yours you've gotten that one swooping shadow just under the eye, however it doesn't look to be caused by the incline on that side that we can't see. i think all i can really say is just work on these important spots. you could lighten her face quite a bit and the contrast of the shadows at those pivotal spots will almost work themselves out. |

The style in these drawings are great, I love the detail in them! |

Looked at the drawing first, I could tell it was Ophelia, and she looks different in every picture I've seen of her, so you definitely did a good job! |
|
Yeah, been doing some gesture drawings a few days ago and recorded some of them. But those were just test recordings, so hopefully I'll make videos where I'll do those, and hopefully contour drawings of others as well. I realized that if I wanted to get better at making less static or dull poses in future drawings of people's body, I would need to "loosen" up the composition a bit when making a rough sketch of their body. And it'll help me not spend hours just to make a body before I even shade it as well. |

These are all looking great, Link |

Hey, thank you very much Araishu. |

Thanks, I'll be sure to check those out. I actually have a graphics tablet that I haven't used in way too long so it'll give me an excuse to get that out again as well |
