Tell me about Final Cut Express.

I'm getting a macbook and am strongly considering buying Final Cut Express, because there's a good chance I'm going into something related to film or the arts. I have a few questions; if someone has the knowledge to answer them, please do!

1) I know you can import multiple layers of video clips. Can you also do this to music? In other words, can you layer two different tracks and have their sounds play on top of each other simultaneously?

2) Does Final Cut Express support HD? For some reason, I've heard there are two different versions, the regular one and "HD" one...

3) Is there a setting you can change so you don't have to render each clip/transition, and instead view the film in real time (quality loss or choppiness is okay).

Any other tips or tricks are appreciated, too.

(this for final cut pro)

I'm not an editor, but...

1.) multiple layers of audio: yes

2.) final cut pro does, don't know about express

3.) The constant rendering is one of the more annoying aspects of final cut
