      Ask me about SNES

I have been playing Super Nintendo since I was 4 years old and as my hobby i buy and sell a lot of SNES stuff. Ask me anything about games, console versions, converters, emulators etc.

It would have to be Super Metroid. The gameplay, graphics and overall atmosphere makes it a perfect game! Other than that I very much like the Donkey Kong Country series, Super Mario World 1&2, Super Mario Kart, Zelda, Secret of Mana and much much more. What's your favorites?

How many SNES games do you have?

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Well I don't have that many physical copies since I own a SNES Powerpak. I have about 20 cartrigdes, and I'm selling most of them. The best thing that has happened to SNES in a long time in my opinion is the Powerpak, since you can download nearly any ROM (SNES game) onto a CF card, insert it into the Powerpak, and play. I have hundreds of game on my CF card.

Do you think the PlayStation would have been a big success?

I'm not sure I understand your question? Playstation was released in 1994 in Japan and 1995 in the rest of the world and it was a big success with 100 million consoles sold.

It's the only console you need.

Oh man, I know what you mean with the powerpak - many, many, many (it seems like forever) years ago, in the hay day of SNES, when new games were still being made, etc. I had the "floppy disk" version of that thing (got it from some Chinese store). I'd rent SNES games, rip them to roms, and just... have them forever haha. I had many, many boxes of floppy disks. It was annoying to load them though, especially the bigger ones. Some games needed like 4 floppies.

Hah okay, sounds very complicated. Which floppy drive did you have?

I *think* it was a Pro Fighter X or something like that

Pro Fighter X 32m DSP - $59.00 : Game Doctor Hong Kong Games

That looks a little familiar. It's a huge unit that sits on top of your SNES (it's boning it with a cartridge-shaped penis haha). You can then stick a cartridge on top, and a floppy in the side, and tell it to rip the game (it's like an SNES orgy). Then, you later get rid of the game (return it to the video rental place hehe) and you can just load the floppy into the unit.

Also, the games I tried worked when loaded with any SNES emulator, so it's exactly the same rom format, though that shouldn't be too surprising I guess.

      Haha that is so awesome!
A lot of people still buy those floppy drives even though there are easier alternatives. I guess it's just for the nostalgia. Did you even play all your ripped games?

I actually mostly did. But of course, with all the options, it took less to say "meh this game sucks let's try another one" It's kind of like having a bunch of SNES roms on your computer, really. It's more of a way to get through the crap and find more games you really enjoy without the risk of spending money uselessly.

Do you still play on the console? I sometimes play old SNES games, but I got a nice USB controller for my laptop so I just use that.

I always play on the console, but I have seen the USB controllers you talk about. They look pretty neat. And I do the exact same thing trying a lot of roms and only play the best of them.
