Thread: question regarding feeling of lucidity-newb here

hey ive just started researching all this (partly cuz inceptions freakin awesome) and i have a question for any experts. when u go lucid, how much like real life does it feel? is it like walking around during the day or does it feel just like a regular dream? is it as difficult to picture the dream in your head afterward? pleez reply lol cuz if its really vivid im putting all the effort in i can!

As real as real life. That is, once your dream recall improves. Can't expect great results without working for them.

There's always a slight dreamy aspect to my lucid dreams, but if I'm lucid they're usually very realistic. Things feel real, small real, and taste real for me. It differs between people though, because some people have more vivid dreams than others.

Edit: I should also add that my dreams, personally, have as much detail as in waking life if you focus enough on it.

As real as life in terms of sight/sound/smell/touch and taste ....but I always seem to find that I feel very warm. Its only after you wake up things seems a little bit more blurred.

As real as real life (as everyone states) but there seem to happen strange things in them for me which seem real at the time, but when I'm awake it just doesn't make sense.

Can be as real as waking, problem is, not all lucids are like that, some may be like waking, some may feel dreamy, some will be like a distant memory, etc, etc.

thanx guys. i just cant wrap my head around how it will feel or how concious i will be. all the dreams ive ever had just go by and i watch lol. shud i do reality checks in real life and then i will do them in the dream? or shud i try the alarm clock method?

I am reading Bradley Thompson's 'Lucid Dreaming in 7 Days' currently, and he suggests waking up at intervals of 4 1/2 hours, then 90 min later, then 90 min later again to awaken right after or during REM sleep. Then write down everything that you can remember of your dreams to help with dream recall.

Also I'm performing reality tests constantly throughout the day so that hopefully my dream-self remembers to ask the questions "Am I Dreaming?" I think a good place to start is working on dream recall and making reality checks a habit, then learning about what your personal "dreamsigns" are and training your brain to look for them. I hope that helps!

In my opinion, dream memories are no different than real life memories. For example, I took a shower two hours ago. I remember taking a shower, I remember what it felt like, how long I took, and what I was thinking. But when I picture it in my head, it's all fuzzy and blurry. See, there really is no difference, memories are memories. What matters most is how you feel WHILE it's happening, of course this is easier in waking life because things are stable and we're concious, so as far ad dreams being real, you need to improve your dream recall but most importantly, you need to implant in your head that the next time you become lucid you will stabalize. It's always good to have a plan.
