      2 year dry spell...

I started my interest in Lucid dreaming the second I heard about it, about 6 years ago and really got into about 4 years ago after finding dreamviews... I had a few LDs and have kept a dream journal most nights for about 4 years, but for the past two years, even though i usually can remember 2-3 dreams a night, they have been very hazy and I haven't had one LD. I used to wake up and think 'wow that was a great dream' but now they're kind of boring and not at all vivid... they barely seem worth remembering tbh.

I try MILD, DILD, self Hypnosis, take vitamin B12 and B6 and have recently started attempting a few WILDs too but still nothing... Its really getting me down now, especially recently as the past 3-4 months I've been really focusing on it and still getting no results

      Does anyone have any advice???

Hi, I'm sorry I have no advice. I can only commiserate. LD's are nowhere to be found here either.

Two years ago I, when I learned what LDing was, I was becoming lucid about once a month.
Then after about a year of no LDs (too busy to even think about it) I had a very brief and weak
control LD and decided I wanted to get back into it. Since then, nothing! And I've immersed myself in
      the topic.

Hang in there. Hopefully we'll both bust out soon. I agree with you it adds to the frustration when you throw your all at it and come up empty.

Keep with your WILDs with WBTB, maybe you can get something with this.

Try different techniques and guides. There's FILD, DEILD, PILD, CAN-WILD, etc. Do reality checks during the day. It's a major help.

From what I've heard, sometimes being too aware of it or being too stressed out by it will cause you not to have LDs.
Maybe you should relax a while and not thing about LDs, and try again after a while?

Thanks for all your advice guys.

Well I have decided to try to organise my approach to LDing a bit more... I found a tutorial by Billybob that had a week schedual in it that I'm going to follow and i'm also going to start trying FILD too... I figure a new method might help end this rut! I'm also doing WBTB every night now. Not only can I attempt WILD every night but it improoves my recall too...

Plus I had a really vivid long dream last night which boosted my confidence... and remembered 5 dreams the night before God I'm trying to stay positive and remember that I can do this cos I've done it before... But its a little more difficult than it sounds

Good job! Just keep trying new things and upping your confidence. Once you get out of this dry spell you're probably going to have a crazy amount of lucids

Stressing defiantly won't help, be calm and just expect it to happen without focusing too much

You know what. It just reminds me of myself :/ I got interested in LDing in December 2009. Started successfully LDing in January 2010, then I kept it until the end of February. From then I hadn't had much of time and motivation to continue it....
But now when I have time and willingness, I can't have one single LD. It is so frustrating. I keep DJ, I do reality checks, at least 10 a day. And nothing,...it's been nearly 2 months I haven't been able to attain lucidity during sleep. I mostly focus on WILDs, but also try MILDs. I feel like I 'lost power' to get back into LDing. Asking for help here is not going to do much, cause I have exhausted every means possible to approach this subject. I will be keeping at it until the end of this year. I will post my results....I mean if any occur

Expectation can really screw with reality. Make your best effort and most of all expect nothing. It seems strange but you may experience the most confidence and stability in your dreams when you have the least expectation for them. So do the exercises, the techniques, but do them in peace that you may not get what you want.
Doing this isnt a lofty philosophy, its simply a practical way to increase the power of your intention. If all thats on your mind is what you think is coming, you wont be exercising your power to actually make it happen.
Ironically, consciously not focusing on what may come and pointing all that intention at the object of desire actually increases the likelihood of what you want to happen.

We are all beginners to the future no matter what stage of growth we inhabit. I am Buddha hear me roar.

Its really great to know that other people are also experiancing problems with LDing. Its so irritating, like you said Ayus and yonjuushichi, how I could do it a couple of years ago but now, when I finally have the time to commit to it (Summer Holiday from Uni) I can't seem to get anywhere with it!! I hope you can get out of this funk too!

But... I had 8 dreams last night non lucid but I felt pretty happy about that! And three were really vivid and clear. I'm feeling a bit more in control with this, even though I'm not getting any lucids I find myself always remembering relaity checks and always questioning reality. Plus my recall is getting better and better every night. I'm also enjoying just dreaming. Its really fun going to sleep and wondering what I'll be imagining up every night...

I really agree with what you said Chimpentertainment. I'm hoping that just enjoying my relaity checks and my improoved recall without getting overly stressed with the slow outcome will hopefully yeild some results *fingers crossed!* I already feel less anxious about it all.

I'm also going to try 'not trying' for a few days, I'lkl just go to sleep and record any dreams in my DJ and maybe that will help. I remember my first lD happened when I was away for a couple of days and didn't have time to think about it so maybe thats the key.

I'll keep you all updated, Thanks again for all the replies

Hi, I just wanted to say that I think I've got a breakthrough 2 nights ago I had a vivid LD! Finally after so much time spent It just came as a surprise. I didn't expect it to happen. Yet again it did On top of that I found it really astonishing that I had so much control of it and it was pretty long. I woke up from that dream with a huge relief. I was overjoyed like a 3-year old with a bar of chocolate in hands LOL
I felt like I completed the mission. Now I will see if it's gonna occur on a regular basis.

I keep my fingers crossed for you guys. Take care and remember keep it up ))

Stay positive! I'm currently going through a dry spell too, but Solomon says, "This too, shall pass..."

I've been battling away frustration by developing a deep and genuine interest in good ol' normal dreaming. Sometimes I feel like non-lucid dreaming is just as important to me as lucid dreaming. For a few hours every night, I get to go to another dimension, as somebody totally different than me. I leave the real world behind and enter an alternate plane of existence with no repetition and infinite possibilities.

I think there is a definite correlation between thinking about it too much and not getting any lucids. Right now I'm thinking about it more than I ever have but getting less lucids than I've ever had since I signed up at Dreamviews. I'm going to take a week or two off and try to clear my head, and then dive back in.

For a few hours every night, I get to go to another dimension, as somebody totally different than me. This is exactly what I feel like at the moment. I used to go to sleep and record my dreams as a method to get lucid, but now I want recall so I can experience and remember my normal non lucids. I've found myself really anticipating every dream and really looking forward to the next adventure my subconscious will take me on.

And my recall has been so good. Last night I remembered 6 dreams and most were vivid. Plus I always used to get huge holes in my dreams where I'd only remember bits at a time but I've started to remember my dreams so much clearer and in their entirety. It's really keeping me thinking positively.

I have had a weekend of not trying actively to LD, just recording any dreams I have in the morning... and I think I'll continue for the rest of the week and see if it helps. I'm really looking forward to the night where I finally crack it!

Yonjuushichi Congratulations :bravo: I can't wait till I'm there!

Happy to report 2 short LD's last night. Also the first time I became Lucid that wasn't from a false awakening. I had no desire to spin and conjure up a new location because I found myself in two places from my past that I really enjoyed revisiting. Spinning, and rubbing hands, and talking aloud seemed to help hold the lucidity.

No clue what triggered the lucidity, I was just aware I was dreaming. After a brief, but very enjoyable several minutes of control, I slipped back into normal dreaming. Then the thought crossed my mind I might still be dreaming and poof; several more minutes of lucidity.

I think the last several threads in this post are right on. A month ago I started pushing really hard to increase the frequency of my LD's. Results were no LD's but much frustration. A week or so ago I somewhat gave up but as others have said I realized that recalling my normal dreams each day was pretty neat. And remembering to remember them as I woke was something I could control.

Last night's LD's were an unexpected treat. For now, I'm content to know I'm capable of a random LD every now and then. And when they do occur, I know that some of the tricks I've learned in my reading seem to help the experience.
