Techniques that take advantage of being a heavy sleeper?

      Hey all,

I've been doing pretty poorly lately in terms of lucid dream frequency. I'm a really heavy sleeper, so I'm wondering if anyone has some good ideas of techniques that would work well keeping this in mind.

A little more detail: sometimes it takes me a while to fall asleep, but once I'm asleep I usually stay asleep for a long time. I feel like unless I forced myself out of bed eventually, I could just go on sleeping for hours on end. When I do wake up, I can usually fall back asleep VERY fast, sometimes within like 20 seconds, at least as far as I remember. When I try techniques like WILD, FILD, etc., I rarely get any sort of sleep paralysis or hypnagogic imagery: usually I will either fall asleep quickly, or be unable to sleep for about an hour until I finally lose focus and fall asleep.

Does anyone have advice for taking advantage of being a heavy sleeper?

Yep, you and I the same. Sleep is an on/off switch for me. I'll try to WILD and lie down for an hour, nothing will happen. Then I'll give up and be asleep in minutes. You could try DILD but I've only had very mild success. I get a lucid perhaps once a month that way. Generally I'm just too asleep to recognize any dream signs.

The best technique for heavy sleepers is DEILD (Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream). It takes advantage of the fact that heavy sleeps can fall back asleep so fast. Essentially you wait for the moment when a dream ends (or set an auto-off alarm) and you wake up a little. If you manage not to move chances are you'll still be in SP. If you are it's a simple matter of slipping back into the dream, except this time you'll be aware of it and hopefully lucid. Go read a guide for a more detailed explanation.

      Hope that helped.

Hmm, sounds like a pretty good idea. DEILD is one of the few techniques I haven't really tried, so I'll give it a shot; thanks for the suggestion.

I have the exact same problem as you. I have tried DEILD, but every time the alarm goes off I move, even though I know it will turn off itself.
Lucid dream goals: DILD: 5 WILD: 10 =^..^=
