First LD and some questions regarding it

Well last night i had my first lucid dream. I became lucid after not knowing how i got where i was and after seeing my hands all distorted. The funny thing is that this whole time ive been practicing the finger through hand reality check but in my dream it didnt work lol. Anyways, after i became lucid the dream became so much more vivid and real. I was in a classroom that seemed like my spanish classroom from school but i did not know any of the people in the room. I looked out the window into the parking lot and saw only about 3 cars, also the weather was dark, rainy, and gloomy. I was trying very hard to change the scene. I was closing my eyes and yelling things and trying to sweep the scene away and start controlling my dream. For some odd reason i didnt think to just walk out the door o.0 . So the questions i have are simple. One, why was i feeling restrained? I felt almost like it might have been reality so i was afraid do anything crazy because it felt like there would actually be real consequences. Very weird. The second question is why couldnt i control any aspects of the dream? I couldnt change the scene, couldnt spawn objects or anything like that. I felt powerless. Do these things just take practice? At one point i tried so hard to change the scene that i woke up. For those of you wondering this LD was induced with the WBTB method.

-Thanks for reading and possibly answering my questions :]

Ok, as for feeling restrained, it may just be your mind not being used to being lucid. I'm not entirely sure, but that's what I'd guess.

As for not controlling it, dream control does take some practice, like anything else. You're not just going to instantly be able to do things. Also, i know this sounds corny, but you have to believe it's going to work. Dreams are based in your mind and you have to change from waking world rules to dream rules. This just takes a few tries to get used to. In my first lucid i tried to fly. Guess what happened, i floated like 2 feet. I couldn't fly around like a pro or anything. Now i can just take off whenever i want.

LDing is all about practice. I know it's annoying when you want to do something and you don't get it right away, but after a couple dreams you will see a difference. A good way to try summoning objects/changing the scene is to walk around something and say out loud, "When i turn this corner i will be at X location" most of the time, you will be there! In your case, i would leave the room, then walk back in while saying that. It most likely would have changed.
Have a question? Send me a pm.
