      My first lucid dream!

Yesterday morning I had my very first lucid dream!!
I don't mean to sound like I won an award or anything, but I'd like to take a moment to express how thankful I am to have found this site & forum - I can't say enough about how valuable the tips & shared experiences on here have been to me. In particular I'd like to thank Rathez, Elucive, Wolfwood, Puffin and MasterMind for their respective guides and various posts.

Anyway, this was a MILD in case anyone is curious. After waking up in the mid-morning hours and doing my MILD routine as I went back to sleep, I dreamed that I was at work, and I was almost immediately aware that I was dreaming. I surprised myself by remaining calm when I became lucid, but the dream ended abruptly anyway: As soon as I raised my hands to do an RC (just for the novelty of a first in-dream RC) I woke up. I'm not upset about it though, because it feels so good to finally succeed. I feel that this is the start of something wonderful. =)

There are very few details beyond what I mentioned here, but I did post the full dream as my very first online DJ entry. Thanks again to all you fine people, I look forward to learning more from you, and sharing more with you.

      Congrats! Keep it up.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I remember when I had my first deliberately induced lucid dream 8 years ago (i had many DiLD's before naturally) and it was an amazing experience. I hope you have many more!

Thanks faceonmars, it must be sweet to be a natural LOL. I actually work with a lady who's a natural lucid dreamer - she didn't even know it had a name until I started getting into the idea and told her about it. And same here, I definitely plan to have more!

By the way, has anyone else had the same issue - waking up when trying to move their dream body in their first, or first few lucid dreams? I knew I was in a dream, I wasn't even excited (just in awe), yet I woke up as soon as I tried to move my arms. Not that it really bothers me, I was just wondering if I should approach it a certain way next time. Should I wait longer before moving or something?

      Thanks!

BTW, happy to announce I just had my second LD a few hours ago! I haven't done my MILD routine in a few days, so I guess this was a regular DILD that happened on its own. It ended the same way as my first: As soon as I deliberately moved after becoming lucid, I woke up. But this LD was more interesting and eventful than my first, will post in my DJ.

Had my 3rd lucid dream this morning, and THIS time I was able to move around in it!! (HAPPY!) Actually it started as a false awakening, which was fantastic because I've really wanted to experience one. Though it was short, it didn't end as abruptly as the first two. And again, I could move freely! Progress!

It seems that you wake up after trying to move so why dont you try just staying still and you know just look around take in your surroundings then slowly try to move.

Thanks! I find it so exciting, it's like nothing else I've experienced. If only I had learned about this sooner!

I got my first one from MILD, so I'm definitely loving that technique. Plus, it fits in well with my sleep cycle - I often wake up right after my dreams, so I have lots of chances to do the exercise. I'm inspired again, I need to go back to doing it consistently... As for WILD, I'm very intrigued by it, and I believe I've come close a couple times, but haven't succeeded there yet. Perhaps when I get really proficient at MILD, I'll go back to trying WILD and see how it goes.

Yeah, I gotta try that, hopefully I can use it to prolong some of these dreams.

Thanks, that's definitely my goal for my next lucid. It briefly crossed my mind in this last dream, but I was walking (across my bedroom) as I became lucid, so I just kind of went with it and kept walking (I opened the door & went into the dining room). But next time I'll make myself stay still, look at the details, engage my senses, etc.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone! Had my 4th LD yesterday and it went very well - I was able to observe the changes of a digital clock, look around and move freely. Not only that, I was about to engage in some naughty lucid behavior with a hot DC on top of my father's desk...... oh shit, I didn't realize how raunchy that whole thing sounded till I summarized it like that LOL.
