I just had my first lucid dream!!!!!

I'm crying of happiness right now. I went to bed feeling very depressed and finally gave up on lucid dreaming and my life, pretty much. I can't even explain how it was to be lucid, but oh my god I didn't think it would be that amazing.

I woke up in MY OLD HOUSE where the best memories are, it was different sure but I WAS THERE. It was so incredible, and then I was about to read a letter but I woke up?

Also, a question for lucid dreamers, is it normal to feel like you're "floating" and not "walking" and how come when I went outside the sky looked green/blue? I did a reality check when I realised I was dreaming and I almost freaked out that I was in my dream. It only lasted like 2 minutes it seemed.

I love this site, all of you for helping with my dreaming, thanks. To everyone who hasn't achieved becoming lucid yet, don't give up. It's so worth it.

Congrats on your first lucid dream! I've had a few lucids myself and they have always been very exhilarating experiences for me. As to your floating comment, flying/floating comes very naturally to the lucid dreamer, I am quite sure that many would agree that it is more natural than walking in the dream. It could also be a dream symbol expressing the sense of freedom you are feeling having finally become lucid. As for the sky, it's your dream and your own minds symbolism. You will be the best one to know why the sky was whatever particular colour. Dreammoods is a site that I sometimes use to help me figure out what a particular dream symbol might mean, but always remember that you yourself are the only one that knows what your dream means. Once you realize what a particular symbol means you will know that you have it right, you just sort of feel that you have the right meaning. It must be intuition or some such thing...

      Good luck and happy dreaming

I literally just went through the same thing. I tried for a good 5 months as hard as I could to do it and then gave up, depressed. I put it on the backburner and only occasionally thought about it and then last night, without trying at all or even keeping a dream journal, I had my first LD. I didn't even remember I had it until I was driving halfway to school and then the vividness struck me like lightning. It felt so amazing and after all the months of failing and trying and failing to finally do it I actually had a tear in my eye. It was so worth it.

As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.

Congratulations on your first lucid dream. Keep practicing and be persistent and you should have many more.
To answer your questions: Sometimes I float in my lucid dreams, sometimes I walk. Walking is fun because I can feel how real the sensation seems. Floating is fun because I can't do it in waking life.
Unexpected things happen a lot even in lucid dreams. It's like exploring another world, you never know what's around the next corner, unless you decide something specific will be there.
      It's all in your head.
