      Reality Checking

Mine is to put my finger on my other palm and push. It only worked twice because the only time I do it is when I think about dreaming. The only time it worked in my dreams is because I was talking about dreaming in my dream and did it.

Now I need a better way of doing this reality check. I was thinking about doing it every time I go through a door but I always forget. Tell me your ways of RCing and when you do it AND how good it works.

I tried to reality check everytime I walked through doors, although I do usually forget and that doesn't work too good if your outdoors. Now I'm trying to find something common (but not too common) in real life that I can assocoate with dreams and checking reality. I haven't got any lucid dreams yet though.

RC every time I wake up and whenever I remember, maintain the RC for long periods of time, so don't do many, but make them last long, I get most of my lucids through the RC.

I do the regular nose plug RC and it has only failed for me once. And the RC where you look at your hands and count your fingers. That has never failed for me.

i personally dont see the point of reality check, as if you forget to do it would be point less, and its also more to remember.iv personally made mental notes/reminder or whatever you want to call it more usefull. apparently its similar to MILD method. everythime something wierd, diffrent, unexpected, or even for no reason just get a little excited and say "ah im in a dream" or whatever you like as long as it meantions that you are in a dream, and what happens when your dreaming that like will automatically pop into your head at some point in a dream. its also good to imagine diffrent scenarions that you may be in a dream and say it, maybe if youv had re occuring dreams or scenory.

I reality check every time I see something unusual, because it is in dreams that you see unusual things and reality check. So, makes sense.

I like to do the nose plug, finger through palm, finger count and then just try and makes things float. Depends where I am though. I don't just stop in the middle of class and chuck stuff into the air to see if I can move it about a bit. I like to keep my RCing descreet

I know which one works for me, it's just, when do I do them in my waking state? When I walk through a door? Or something weird happens? Tell me when do you RC?

If you do them whenever something wierd happens it'll carry through to your dream. And since there are wierd things in your dreams (plenty of them) it's probably the best way to do it.

I've started putting my phone on a vibrating alarm that will go off every 10 minutes. Every time it goes off I do a reality check until it stops vibrating. It's a good way to remind me to do reality checks when I'm at work. I guess it's working; I had 3 DILDs last night.

      I don't think i get it,

What do you do when you say you do a RC?
What do you mean you maintain a RC for periods of time.

I check for my gravity to see whether I'm on dreams or in waking, and since it doens't requires movement, I can do it for as long as I want to. For example, being checking my weight constantly for the past two hours right now.

just wondering... do you get out of breath in a dream? If I do a reality check every time I'm out of breath... the nose plugging RC (since they are related) will that continue to my dreams?

what if every time you do some sort of exercise you just check whether you are out of breath? (assuming you can't get out of breath in your dream)

Well, that would be because I don't like explaining it on the main forum, so I just PM people about it, will PM you about it later.

On the breath thingy, some do, some don't, I bet most won't if they are checking it though. After all, in nightmares and things where you don't pay much attention to it, it tends to work normally.

Blah! It's a few days after I said to myself "I want to finally have more lucid dreams, I will start reality checks after passing through a door!" and I rarely do them because I always forget. The only time I do them is when I think about dreaming and that doesn't help much in a dream. Tell me your dream signs and when you RC in reality.

Do it when you see something odd happen. Or if you have a specific dreamsign you see in WL, do it then. I don't really have a dreamsign, I just do it when I see something strange (best time to do it), and I do them spontaneously too. It works for me. But when you do it, you have to question reality, ask how you got there, etc.
