      WILD success! + a few questions :)

Hi all, new here, sometimes come on to browse but thought I had to share.

Managed to unintentionally WILD this morning. Was hungover slightly so surprised that I managed it!

Need some of your opinions mind.

I was laying in bed and I began to see my room as though my eyes were open, without getting excited I tried getting up and eventually, after a few attempts of lying back down and relaxing I managed to "detach" from my bed.

Anyhow, I had a great experience of what felt like at least 20 minutes of lucidity.

So anyway, here are a few things which I had problems with and I need some advice.

I tried to fly, but there didn't seem to be much luck, why was this?
I managed to put my head through a mirror in my room to look around, it wasn't that interesting, later i tried going through a larger mirror but I couldn't, it was solid and no matter what i thought, it remained solid.

I also tried materializing objects (I got sort of close with materializing my friend but it was only a ghostly image, she disappeared when I have up) but couldn't really do it much.

Those the are the things I'll want to try again, so any advice on that?

Also in regards to the induction, I saw no hypnagogic imagery, just the pretty sudden image of my room from where I was lying, is this normal? I know that it wasn't an OBE or nothing, I was speaking to my housemate (dream character) at one point. I had no vibrations or any feeling, it just....happened. What should I expect to see? Will my WILD's always induce like this? I'm thinking of sticking to WILDing as it seems to be the most success I have.

      Thanks

Another point is that while I couldn't go through the larger mirrors, they still reacted to my touch in a peculiar manner....they either cracked and holed up around my fingers or just completely shattered by touch, so I guess that helped me remain lucid for longer.

Maybe it was different because you were hungover?

Or maybe you are just an exceptional WILDer.

Flying often takes some practice. I wasn't able to fly right away either. Practice by jumping high into the air and try the swimming motion. It is slow, but you should be able to remain suspended. You can practice faster flying from that point.

I managed to put my head through a mirror in my room to look around, it wasn't that interesting, later i tried going through a larger mirror but I couldn't, it was solid and no matter what i thought, it remained solid.
Your control is just a bit inconsistent. I would try to slowly place my hand on the mirror and start a gently push. Imagine your hand submerging in water. Look at your hand and imagine it disappearing into the mirror. Once you get a finger or a hand in, it will be easy to get the rest of yourself in there. Sometimes, you can just take off running and dive into one as well.

I also tried materializing objects (I got sort of close with materializing my friend but it was only a ghostly image, she disappeared when I have up) but couldn't really do it much.
Straight up summoning and making things materialize out of thin air is usually one of the harder dream control techniques. In my experience it is soooo much easier to simply look for something that you want. If you wanted your friend there with you, you could just walk around looking for him/her. Calling out the name of whatever you are looking for will also help. I would suggest trying this, unless you simply want to practice materializing things. If that is the case, just keep trying. You were fairly close.

Those the are the things I'll want to try again, so any advice on that?

Also in regards to the induction, I saw no hypnagogic imagery, just the pretty sudden image of my room from where I was lying, is this normal? There are several things that could have happened here. I may have had to experience it to really know for sure. I will say that you don't have to have HI. I have had several WILDs where I say little to nothing throughout the process. You could have just fallen asleep really quickly and kept consciousness. You also could have been asleep the entire time and when you closed your eyes you realized it because you could see through them. Either way, congrats on your success and achieving lucidity.

      Thanks

Another point is that while I couldn't go through the larger mirrors, they still reacted to my touch in a peculiar manner....they either cracked and holed up around my fingers or just completely shattered by touch, so I guess that helped me remain lucid for longer.

Yeah, many things the dream environment will react it peculiar ways. Testing objects is a lot of fun in dreams.
Congrats on achieving lucidity and I hope I helped out a bit. Good luck to you and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
