Bright lights can suppress REM sleep, I believe: sunlight acts as a natural stimulant to wake people up, and the light emanating from a computer or T.V. screen can do the same thing to the body. Less REM sleep means a decreased likeliness to dream and remember those dream, which also means less likelihood of remembering a lucid. Not to say there haven't been cases where people have had lucid dreams; watching T.V. just makes it harder. |
