      Semi lucid to full lucidity

For me it is very common once I become Lucid to go into a semi lucid state. I have yet to WILD, so all my lucid experiences are DILD, and once I get past that initial burst of awareness I quickly lose conscious control. I know and understand the dream physics while I'm dreaming, but feel like I can't control my actions personally. Other than my very first lucid dream all my other dreams have been semi lucid.

My question is, are there people who have had this same experience of being constantly semi lucid, and are there tricks to deepen your lucidity?

For example: I will realize I am dreaming, and therefor know I can do impossible things. However WHAT I do is not within my control.

Any tips as to how to overcome this? Or do I just need to practice, practice, practice?

The lucid dreams I had when I was younger were much the same - I'd spontaneously realise I was lucid, and get excited. I'd be able to use some abilities with struggle, but I'd lose them fairly quickly, and the dream plot would take over.

Make sure you ground yourself in your dream, before you go off having an incredible adventure. Take some time to listen to your senses, take in the detail you can see, what can you hear? Rub your hands together, this is a common way to stabilise the dream, as is touching the walls. If you reinforce the idea that this is what you will do when you gain lucidity, then you'll do it in the 'dream plot' where you feel you don't have control, and it will hand control over to you completely.

Same here. I realize this is a dream for a second and then dream me takes over.

As soon as I realize I am dreaming, I firmly command, "Clarity now!" or "Awareness now!" You will notice that your vision and wits will literally snap into focus. When you start to lose lucidity, command clarity or awareness again...do it as often as necessary. I have found that it not only gives me full lucidity but it prolongs my LDs as well.

Thanks! This sounds similar to me, the dream is... fuzzy. It's not exactly in full clarity.

Thanks for the other suggestions everyone, but the problem for me isn't losing myself in the dream plot so much as not being able to specifically control what I do. I know that the physics of the dream are alterable, and am aware of this, but what I alter feels out of my control.
