Dammit, I'm losing the drive to practice

I'm doing all day awareness, and I think I am gradually doing less and less awareness periods each day. My dreams have shrunk to 2 fragments a night, and I almost forget how being fully aware feels like. When ever I do it now, it's just sitting down, controlling my breathing and feeling the chair under me.

What can I do to get back into it?

Sounds like you are going through 'mental fatigue' with this technique. If it's not working for you, shelf it for awhile. Try other techniques.

Relax. Stressing out about LDing, and trying too hard can ultimately kill both your recall and lucid dreams. Sometimes it's best to not be aware all the time, because there's a possibility you could end up getting used to it, then you'll need even more awareness to induce a lucid. Take a few days off and get back into it when you feel things are back to normal, and when you feel you have the drive to do it again. Don't do reality checks, practice awareness, or anything. Only do it when you start up your practices again.

The way you describe going about increasing your awareness is the same as what I do, so it's not necessarily a "bad thing" if you can't do it all the time. 99% my lucids have come from doing that. I probably spend only two hours or so a day, on average, practicing awareness in large spikes, instead of spreading it out throughout the day. Perhaps you could try this, because different people have different techniques.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I'm not stressing out about lucids and whether or not I get one. I'm just concerned that my dreams have started to take a nose dive, and I am remembering less and less to practice during the day. Good days I will have moments to myself where I can practice, and the practice goes well. Now its only a few minute periods where I only last like 10 seconds before my mind starts to trail off, or I'm only concentrating on the one thing.

I don't think I need a break just yet, as I still have a feeling of being close to a lucid. I just needed something extra to give me that last little boost to getting there- ADA right now isn't enough, I need to improve on it.

do reality checks with your ADA and use the MILD technique as you go to sleep. listen to binaural beats or isochronic tones. Watch Subliminal Messages.

In terms of motivation, remind yourself why you wanted to learn to lucid dream in the first place. I find it easy to forget my motivation when I get so hung up on the goal of it.

Well last night was good- a good increase in the number of dreams and their length. A good boost for me. Also what you guys said has helped too.

I tried subliminal messages before, but I am certain they made my dreams less vivid and they even got to a point where I stopped dreaming. I have it recorded when I started using them, about 4 nights afterwards I had no dreams at all.

i think all this ADA / MILD / RC focus is not what you need right now. sure, give LD techniques some attention, but according to what you're saying you need to focus more on your recall before you can really move on.

have you tried the stuff in this thread?:

Try doing some sort of fun experiment. Maybe you could make up a plan to try eating different foods during your WBTB? Or set some alarms during the night? Something that will change things up and get you excited again.

I have tried pretty much everything I can do at least once. I'm taking a two day break, this sucks.

Taking a break can definitely help, it's not a bad idea. Once you're back, my advice is (as has been posted before on this thread), to first work on your recall. Then go back to ADA and never forget to truly believe in your abilities.
