How do I end this dry spell???

I have hit a dry spell. I was having Around 3 lucid dreams a week, at this point I havnt had any lucidity in the past 3-4 weeks. I really feel like I'm falling off and really want to get back in touch. Does anyone have tips on how to end a dry spell.

Relax and stop trying to lucid dream for a few days (that can be painfully hard once you've got to the point where you get 3-4 LDs a week, but it can really help). Don't let the sudden inability to become lucid get to you. I hit a bad dry spell where I wouldn't get lucids for almost 8 months, and after 2 months of continually trying without success, I stopped trying and didn't worry about it. I continued to post on DV to keep my mind thinking about LDing, but without stressing out and trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any. I had some nice lucids after this - they're not completely back, but I'm getting there.

Speaking of stress... Stress in general can cause dry spells; students can often go through them during exams; if your job is a pain and you can't stop thinking about that big project that's due, that could also be a factor. Take additional dream vividness supplements - apple juice, vitamin B6, or eat foods with lots of vitamin B6 - salmon is a good one. If the vividness of your dreams has gone down, that may be the cause. Sometimes you just won't become lucid in hazy dreams.

      Hope that helped! =)

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Im not sure, because I havent really had that many lucids.. But I think I 'may' be on a dry spell.
Because when I started out I had about 2-3 Lucids in about 2 weeks, but now I havent had a lucid in about..... 2-3 months.. :L

Thanks Puffin! I might try and stop trying to LD for about a week. But should I keep writing in my DJ and taking fish oil (For recall) etc?

Sorry to bump in like this, but I think you should keep the DJ going, but don't stress over forgetting to write in it. If you remember anything at all write it. As for the fish oil, I don't really believe in or like the idea of supplements. But if you want to, do it.

      Its ok.. Really.

Fish oil is proven to help with memory, thus increasing Dream Recall. I've, personally found that it helps.

Yea, I think that I'll do that.. I'll probably stop trying to LD next week though, as theres a few new things that I really want to try out now.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like a good Idea to take a break but I worked so hard to get to the point I was at. I feel if I stop for a little while it will be like starting all over when I decide to try again. I'm scared to let go of it completly like that.

I guess I will give it another week also, if no lucid dreams I will take a break. My problem could very well be from stress.. My job makes me want to rip my eyes out.

I broke my dry spell by adding on a sitting technique to my wbtb routine which has help me get back on track. So I would say whatever technique your doing try to add on another technique to it. It can be as small as drinking apple juice before an ld attempt or reading something related to ld"s. I think to keep things fresh we need to be perfecting and expanding a technique that resonates with us

By sitting technique are you refering to a short meditation?

I dont meditate at all when performing a sitting technique. I just fall asleep then either wake up in the dream or float out of my chair. Im going to start a thread about the sitting method i use, but in general what im doing is sitting at a 120 to 130 degree angle in a reclining chair. I then put a pillow on my neck and lower back so my field of vision is forwards not sideways downwards or upwards. When i sit like this im comfortable enough to fall asleep but iam also able to maintain some awareness of my body and not fall into a deep slumber. I have included some visuals below for your aid . namaste.
