      Question Need motivation...

      Hello guys,

I haven't been lucid a lot over the past few months, and I suspect it is mainly because of my lack of motivation. I can't be bothered to write my dream journal, which has seemed to be the main problem. I have tried to kick-start my LDing multiple times, but I'm doing terribly compared to what I used to be able to achieve. I need some motivation, some ideas and reasons that I should Lucid Dream, so that I can put the little bit of effort that it requires in.

      Thanks in advance!

Spice things up with some supplements.

      Yo.
If you need ideas and reasons for lucid dreaming, there's whole thread full of interesting ideas: http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...cid-dream.html .
This thread can help with motivation as well: http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...uragement.html .
Also maybe you could read some dream journals here on dreamviews too, i find reading them very motivation rising and inspiring too.
Don't give up and good luck!

Maybe try switching up to a different induction technique.

Thanks for the answers guys! I did manage to get lucid last night, so it's looking like I should be back into the rhythm soon. But keep the answers coming, I would like to be able to use this thread for helping other people stay motivated.

Wow, you're super lucky. I've been trying for week now and still nothing. Sometimes I don't think I'll ever be lucid.

There are two things required to make a good lucid dreamer, in my mind. One is the effort that you must put in, which I have no doubt you are doing, and the other is a good sense of motivation. That is why I started this thread. I didn't have a high enough level of motivation. I got fed up with keeping my dream journal, and everything went downhill from there. Saying "Sometimes I don't think I will ever be lucid" shows maybe a lack of confidence and motivation. You WILL get there, I know you can, that everyone can, but you won't until you feel motivated enough. Keep trying, keep an idea in mind of what you want to do when you become lucid, and every night before you go to bed, think "I am going to become lucid". These are, in my mind, two of the most important things to do in order to master lucid dreaming.

Thanks for the advice. I did recall a dream last night, but it was just a segment and the rest is just blank. I don't know if the mantra's work on me cause I was saying it intently right before I went to bed. My subconscious tends to revolve my dreams around the most least important things.

Having a positive attitude helps a lot! Do not think after waking up "Oh, had no lucid again tonight" and start despairing, which I sometimes do and repeat like a bad mantra. Think "I will have a lucid", sometimes the body needs its time and there's no rushing the LD. Continue with RCs, and all the techniques you use.

Also, do not forget to keep a DJ, even if it is a few sentences. Good recall is a must for LD. Lots of the dreams we have even non-ld are full of interesting stuff about the world, new experiences and ideas. A DJ can help you also know yourself better so I highly recommend keeping one.

Good work on remembering that one dream. Even if you only recall one part of it, it is important. If you keep a dream diary, the more you recall the better it gets. Tonight you will remember more, then more the next night etc. Good recall is quite an important skill when you are trying to lucid dream, using the DILD technique. If you don't know what to expect in your dreams, then how do you know when to do a reality check? Or at least that is what I think, but everyone is different. It's OK if mantras don't seem to work for you. I don't seem to get much use out of them, either. You just need to experiment with different techniques until you find the one that suits you.

The most important thing is to actually care about lucid dreaming. Get excited about it, read articles or watch videos, post in the on-topic sections of this forum, read other people's DJs or your own past ones from when you've become lucid. Basically, you have to genuinely care about it and want to have one. And not in a "I've been procrastinating for too long and should probably start trying to LD again...." way. Then you don't really care about it, you're just feeling guilty over not doing it, and it becomes work. It shouldn't really be work or your mind won't want to do it anymore.

Think about how incredible you feel when you do have LDs, and all the things you could do in the future that you've never done before. It seems like a lot of people do feel the proper motivation when they start thinking about it, but due to the stresses of their lives, it doesn't cross their minds very often. What you could do is purposely think about it and get yourself excited about it, at least a few times per day. Not like "Okay I have to think about this now..." because then your mind will think of it as 'work' and will try to fight it. Instead, give your mind a 'gentle shove' in the direction of LDing by thinking about some benefit of it that genuinely excites you.

      Spoiler for about watching movies:
