      Best Sleeping Position?

I have long wondered what the optimum sleeping position would be for lucid dreaming (if any). I have most recently become a back sleeper, but also side-sleep every once in awhile. Is there any sleeping position that is better than the other? I have heard sleeping with your legs elevated, getting more blood to your head, will increase dream quality.

What sleeping position do you guys usually go with when you want to lucid dream (back, side, stomach?) and if you use more than one, does one prove to be more effective than the other? Perhaps with dream vividness or how often dreams occur for you?

Sleeping on your back is said to promot good breathing and good spine alignment. Also they say sleep paralysis is easier to induce when sleeping on your back. That being said it is sugested that you sleep in the position you are most comfurtable in in order to get lucid dreams. I am currently trying to switch to a back sleeper.

The only way any of that will make a difference is if you snore. Unless you snore, you should be able to LD in any position, if you do, the position that makes you snore the least.

Well as said it depends on the person. I can sleep on my back as well on my sides, sleeping on my stomach is actually pretty comfortable for me as well, except for my head which usually is the problem in that position. However while in bed I occasionally lay on my stomach to relax a bit down, before going to sleep in one of the other positions.

I love sleeping on my stomach. I lean my head to one side.

it really depends on everyone, whatever is comfortable for you.
I almost always sleep curled on my side with a pillow turned slightly so I can hold it with my arms and one between my legs....I even remember sleeping like this when i was a little kid. I always need to hold something lol.

I find it really hard to sleep on my back. Really difficult.

When I want to sleep on my side, I find it's nice to put a pillow between my legs. I try to adjust my head pillows so that my head stays parallel to the bed; it's the most comfortable.

When I want to sleep on my front, I like to put a pillow underneath my stomach. The problem is always my face being squashed into the pillow. I try to use my arm, but this varies between being a perfect position and an incredibly uncomfortable position. I don't know why.

When I want to sleep on my back, adding a pillow underneath my knees makes it much nicer. And I like to add extra head pillows to tilt me a bit more. It also helps with the old saliva problem...

I love that diagram. I'm now going to make myself a back-sleeper. And then I'm going to make back-sleeper an official term.

But I don't get the diagram for the foetal position... I can't make sense of the pillow position... Is that just me?

According to "Dream Yoga" for men it is sleeping on their right side and for women it is sleeping on their left. I forget the explanation behind it - it's also never made any difference for me

I can't sleep on my back D: unless my arms are stretched behind my head or I'm slightly on my side.

and heh the pillow thing is sorta confusing...I don't like thick pillows so whatever xD

Hnm, I kind of think if a position is working, you might not really have to change it. Personally, I sleep in all sorts of positions, but normally back or side.

Actually, sleep apnea is at its worse when a person is on their back.. Trust me, I know from experience and doctors telling me.

I heard that any position that is different than your regular sleeping position. This is supposed to make your subconscious more aware and think that something is up so you pay more attention in your dreams.
