      Mild help

I have been training my prospective memory so I have been having lucid dreams at a higher rate indirectly.

But when I try the mantra before going back to sleep I end up staying up and losing focus quite fast. So I am sure my lucids have not been a result of the mantras but prospective training memory.

      Any pointers?
How do you all go about your milds?

I am trying to use the "exploring the world of lucid dreaming" method.

MILD stands for Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream. If you break it down it's really all about power of suggestion and will. Believing that you will absolutely have a LD that night with no doubt. I'd say mantras are only there to help you get in the mindset that you will but MILD works best if you already believe that before even thinking about it. I wouldn't say there's a specific technique to MILD because it's really only as strong as your belief is. The more you do MILDs the easier they are because which each LD, you start knowing you'll have one that night for sure. I wouldn't start out with MILD as a beginner just from the fact that when starting, it's hard not to be doubtful.

Er, I'm rambling a bit. Basically MILD works with how strongly you believe.

MILD plays a role in all the different lucid dreaming techniques, not just the "MILD" one - both WILDs and DILDs require concentration and confidence, which is essentially what MILD is. The particular message doesn't matter as much as the mindset, so try not to get too focused on the actual message. Although it's still fairly important to repeat that message, as Caretaker said, it's mostly about your mindset, and how strongly you believe you will have an LD. If you find yourself unable to sleep, just say or think it less often (or repeat it in the back of your mind while thinking about other stuff), but still have that essential confidence.

      Good luck!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I'm giving Laberge's MILD a try as well Fedor. So I'm also trying to improve my prospective memory using that weekly excercise he gives. Laberge seemed pretty adamant that prospective memory is a prerequisite for MILD..at least his kind where its about remembering to do something the next time it happens, like recognizing that you're dreaming. But after taking the DVA MILD course and reading threads on here, there seems to be a lot of variation in how people MILD.
