Question Questions about DEILD, SP and RC:s

I've been lurking here for about 7 weeks, had 3 DILDs and 1 WILD, which was before I realized how scary SP can be... I can only remember that I got lucid, and that I didn't get any negative effects, nevertheless, I don't want to do WBTB WILDs anymore... I have a good dream recall, I remember 2-3 dreams every night. Anyway, I have a couple newbie questions for you:

      1) Is the SP with DEILDs much different compared to the SP with WBTB? I heard that it's a alot less intense and much shorter, but is this true?

      2) So, if for example the DEILD SP was too much for me, could I get lucid every night with DILDing? How often people, who only DILD, get lucid?

3)When I'm dreaming, really abnormal things can happen, but I won't question anything, which is annoying. I normally do RC:s about 10-20 times a day (sometimes more often) and definately get aware during them, but sometimes I might forget about them, and not RC for several hours. I also do RC:s when odd things happen. How do I get myself to question things around me in dreams more often? Do I just need to stick with this and evolve it into a full-blown habit?

As far as your first question, yes, SP during DEILDs is generally much shorter, less intense, and often times i don't even notice it (deild is my favorite method). Since you are waking up from a dream and not moving whatsoever, you are staying in SP, never having to go through the beginning stages of it which freak most people out. From then on you just continue with your technique and all's fine and dandy.

As far as DILDs go, they are more sporatic than any form of WILD, but they are generally easier to do and do not cause any "freaky" effects. DILDs though, sinc they can not be controlled very easily, will be random and, often times, I can only get 1-2 DILDs per week, with which I often continue through the use of DEILDs. If you keep at it though, I'm sure you could get a consistent 3-4 per week after practicing for some time.

You should check ADA, all day awareness. It's not exactly all day, but take 10-20 minutes a couple times each day (maybe during your time on DV, during a study hall if you're enrolled in a school, or before going to bed) during which you attempt to heighten and use all your senses. This includes not only paying more attention to your total eye view (peripherals too) but also hearing (what does your typing sound like?), touch (what do your clothes actually feel like? is it warm or cold where you are?), smell (is someone cooking? have you or a loved one showered today?), and evn taste (take a drink of water and try to taste all the little additives or subtleties in it). This helps you become more aware in general and will move into your dreams as well.

Also, when you preform your RCs make sure you are not just simply pinching your nose/looking at your hands. Actually think about it. Is this really waking life? Am I sure this is normal? When you preform a RC take 10-30 seconds, not just 2-3.

      1) Yes, SP in DEILD is often much shorter. DEILD is the fastest WILD method (and the best in my opinion)
      2) That varies very much. It is certainly possible to have nightly LD's with DILD, but it takes time and practice.
      3) I agree with Burke here. Definitely check out ADA. Here is a link. I'm currently the one answering questions in that thread (KingYoshi isn't active on the site right now), it is my favorite technique. It takes time and effort to master, but it can be combined with any other technique, and it can produce a lot of lucids on it's own. Full mastery of it should turn all your dreams into lucid ones, but as I said, complete mastery takes a lot of time.

Thank you so much Burke and Spyguy for your answers! Glad to hear about the "easier" SP with DEILDs! I'm thinking that I could use DEILDs to extend my DILDs, as I have had a couple recently. I also have to start training myself to remember to keep my eyes shut after my dreams.

I've heard about ADA before, and picked it up for about two days and forgot it I will try to turn it into a habit also.

When I perform my RC:s I always do those things you say, and it takes about 20 secs. Guess I just need to do a couple more RCs daily, pick up ADA, fix my sleep rhytm and stick with all that and see what happens after couple months...
