      to exprienced lucid dreamers

      Hey everyone,

i just want to know for those of you who are exprienced lucid dreamers, what is the key to your success? mentally how do you prepare your self before you sleep, or what sort of things do you do which you believe is helping you?

because i believe this is a basic feature of human biengs and surely there must be guide or technique you can follow to achieve it at will.

iv been lucid dreaming for about 15 years but i dont have a solid technique, it either happens randomly, or i just repeat to my self mentally im dreaming while imagining im in a dream, and then at some point in a dream that gets replayed to me and i become lucid. but for example i tried that last night and next thing i know i woke up next day with not even 1 second memory of any dreams, and usually i have good dream recall.

I can't say that I am a master, but I do have alot of experience from lucid dreaming by now.
I found the DEILD the technique to be the best technique for me so that's what I am using.
And one thing that is really important, but really hard to do is to stop wanting it too much and to live with the mindset "There is a new opportunity next night".
So start with something simple, just to convince yourself that it is possible.
For example start with setting an alarmclock to wake you in the middle of the night 6 hours after you fall asleep and tell yourself to wake up 5 minutes before that clock.
When you can succeed with that try to wake up without that clock at the same time.
Then... Try to notice all of your awakenings (micro-awakenings).
Then... Pracctise to wake up with closed eyes and be aware of it.
Then... Waking up and laying completely still
Then... Next time you wake up there is a big chance that you will already be dreaming, so get out of your dreambed!
Instead of getting out of bed, even if there is a chance that you already are dreaming, you can use some random DEILD techniques here on this site to get to the dream. You will have a special feeling, because your brain is tuned into another frequency (delta I think) so you will be able to feel if you can transition to the dream or not. If you have ever been in sleep paralysis you will know what I mean.

By the way by noticing your awakenings you will start to remember your dreams more and more so the recall will come easily.
Then one beautiful day you might just have to say "I am aware of my dreams".

And that is mastery step by step The hardest obstacle is patience, but I promise you it's possible and you will have some spontanious lucid dreams during this time as well.

Right now I am at the step where I can wake up with closed eyes and laying still, now the problem for me is that I am not aware enough to realise this. But I will just solve this with another affirmation.

Some days ago I actually woke up in a dream, but wasn't aware of that until I woke up... (Because I was too lazy to do anything).
And that's another reason why patience and persistence is important because "you lose 100% of the shots you don't take".

I can't stress enough the importance of a WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) to augment your dreams. If I take a bit of time in the middle of the night to focus my intention, I am almost guaranteed a lucid dream. Nothing else seems to have such a consistently profound effect.

yeh i have to admit WBTB usually works very well. but i remember it used to be so much easier for me. I used to just tell my self when im dreaming im ganna realise im dreaming, and without effort it would happen. it just seems like the more you want it the further away it will go from you, affirmations recently have no effect whats so ever. i dream, and all sorts of wierd things happen to indicate its a dream but my brain just doesnt register for some reason and i go along with the dream.

its almost exactly like when you lie down and your mind starts chattering and comes up with all sorts of diffrent thoughts, imaginations and scenarios which it seems like your not really in control off the outcome the thought just takes it own path and creates scenarions, and looks like thats what happens when you dream except your watching your thoughts and living in your imagination.

im trying to pay alot more attention to my thoughts and be aware of them, rather then leting my sub consciouse to run wild and take its own path. Because im thinking if you can become aware and monitor your thoughts, where if anything out of the ordinary happens you realise, then when your dreaming as soon as anything out of the ordinary happens you will realise.

there are some effective methods out there, iv been hopelessly trying WILD, DILD etc but since dreaming and Lucid dreaming is a basic tool of human biengs there has to be a more efficient way to Lucid dream, and its should be as easy as just going to sleep and having a lucid dream when you want with 100% success rate.

I'm a bit experienced but not enough yet to get a solid technique. I have the worst sleep schedule known to man (probably), staying up until 6AM on the weekends and getting less than 6 hours of sleep each night and taking naps each day.

I haven't done anything lucid dreaming wise and I'm thinking about starting again.

All Day Awareness during daytime, and DEILD during my awakenings at night. That combination own for me. I also have a technique for falling asleep easily (signature for link), which has raised my LD count a lot somehow. Confidence, practice and patience are the keys in my opinion. Find a technique that appeals to you and stick with it. It must never, EVER be a bother to practice LDing. Do it in a relaxed way that suits you. That's probably the best and most important advice I can give

Awareness with the occasional reality check is all I really use. WBTB doesn't help me too much, for some reason.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I have been using visualizations with progressive muscle relaxation for many years now. Sometimes its works... sometimes it does not but it certainly keeps me aware of the goal without breaking up my sleep pattern.

i have reached a conclusion that the "daily awareness" and living in the now moment is key to many things

Some people just have a knack for it and others have to practice. What helps me is doing reality checks many many times a day whenever I remember to, and also I do WILD based off a technique that my old Adopter showed me. Try out all that you can and find what's best for you.

I have never needed anything more complicated than a dream journal and frequent reality checks. But WBTB is often very effective too, I just never use it very often.

Tried WILD several times but never managed to acheive it
