Doing RCs when you see dream signs can get rather annoying.......

      So my top dream signs:
      1. Hot girls
      2. Being anywhere besides work, school, or home (I never dream of where I am most of my life, lol)

As you can imagine doing an RC whenever I see a hot girl or realize I am not at work, school or home gets annoying.

Especially with hot girls, because then I am in public and sometimes people will look at me weird if I repetitively keep nose plugging and poking my hands. I try to be stealthy but it can still be odd

So I wanted to ask is this how you are supposed to use RCs and dream signs?, is there any better way?

Maybe make your dream signs more specific? For example, one of mine is being on a school bus. That doesn't happen too often, it's quite specific. Yours seem very vague, so are probably quite hard to use effectively as you've pointed out.

True, I'll look through my journals again.

But I remember choosing vague dreamsigns specifically because each dream was unique and had 0 pattern.

      This could either be because:
-I am just not seeing the patterns which is a possibility
-I don't have vivid enough recall (probably not, I remember at least one dream a night, each dream takes up a good 1-2 pages, I usually get sick of writing at that point, lol)
-My dreams are just too random, and do not connect to one another......I have only ever had one repeating dream and that was a nightmare when I was like 8 or 9 years old

I had an idea to consistently try to start a dream in the same location so I could recognize it, like visualize a palace before going to bed and you always start the dream off in a palace, but that is a lot of work to just get a consistent dreamsign. Honestly, most LD guides don't mention dreamsigns as that important. Which I found odd, maybe this is one of the reasons, idk.

Well I personally don't have that much of a consistency with my dream signs, so I'm like you in that sense. However, some people find it really useful, so it's definitely worth trying a bit more to find your dream signs. But yes, they aren't completely vital

Well you should be doing RCs whenever you notice something strange, out of the oridinary, unusual; dream-like.
Not just dream signs, or you will have to rely on them forever.

Anyway, it shouldn't be "Ohh hot girl..*nose plug*"

That to me, isn't effective at all

Try instead to get in an alert, aware state of mind. For instance - "Oh hot girl.. am I dreaming? (im not sure, i'll become aware of everything as shes talking and just notice if anything strange happens..) Nothing strange has happened, let me try change something.. (try to levitate an object or change the letters in words by looking away) Ok still nothings changed.. (she's turned away now so I can sneak in an RC, just to be sure) ok I'm not dreaming!"

and no one even has to know

I gotcha, I was just going through the motions of RCs without really asking myself. And I am trying to increase my general awareness during the day, it is difficult thought I tend to zone out.

And that is good to know that I don't need to do an RC that second, lol. I thought by doing it asap I would have my mind associate the RC and the dream sign faster.

Anyway on another note, I went through my journals again. No better dreamsigns, and to top it off my subconcious wanted to spite me last night. It specifically set the dream in my home and there were 0 hot girls. Both dreamsigns useless and to top it off I remembered 3 dreams last night all lacking the dreamsigns, lol.

Yeah it's not so much the RC, as it is the awareness you have when you RC. The way I see it is, the most commonly occuring things in dreams are things we have a lot of thoughts about during the day, or things we think with a lot of energy about (for instance a girl you might think about all day with a great emotion of desire, lust, or a great desire for that brand new ferrari or something) your dream is a lot more likely to manifest one of these than that packet of crisps you thought about before you went on your lunch break (shit example but you get my point)
So if you can make that - "ohh that was weird - *do an RC", into a bigger, more emotional "ohhh that was weird, HOLD ON, am i dreaming? well how would i know? well if i could lift this table up with my mind i am! ok that didnt work, what if i make a really gorgeous girl walk through the door right NOW. Ok didnt work - *RC* - that would have been so good if i was dreaming though, if i was lucid i would do this ----" and use your imagination to just imagine all the things you will do in your next lucid dream!

You want to try and put a big positive emotion behind it, because your so much more likely to have a dream about what you want that way, do you see?
