Attaining Lucidity from the Edge of a Dream

In my dream I was walking down a road in a city, not lucid yet. Then I spot off in the distance a gray fog, which I sense is the edge of my dream. This intrigues me, and I rush over to it. I'm becoming lucid now, sensing that this rolling gray dream "fog" is the edge of my dream somehow and it is the stuff my brain hasn't yet transformed into dream scenery/imagery yet. It is like I got lucidly ahead of my dreaming brain and it didn't know what to create yet.

At least I had lucid control to create stuff out of this fog. I imagined a few machines into existance, and they appeared out of the fog near me. As I started messing around with the machinery the fog started to clear a bit, then roll back revealing the landscape I was on. I also did other lucid things, you can see my DJ entry here.

The fog seemed vagely familiar to me as if I had encountered it before in dreams. Has anyone else had encounters with a dream "fog" as I have described it in their own dreams?

I have never made it to a dreams boundary before. My dreams usually tend to be "on rails", where the events take me from one place to another and I either don't think to deviate from the path or if I become lucid and try to, I just forge my own path.

Like in one of my lucids, I was in a shop. I became lucid and climbed up through the ceiling tiles. When I got through there it was just another room, totally random, etc. If there was a boundary you would think it would be right behind the ceiling tiles. I guess dreams don't work that way.

As for fog or anything like that, can't say I have ever seen stuff like that.

Never had dream 'fog' or any kind of a boundary. Interesting concept, however.

go into the fog! it seems to be more metaphorical...and perhaps its an invitation into a whole new dimension which would illustrate the inadiquecy of our own expectations. Ive experienced these dreams and perhaps its telling us not to limit ourselves. Go into the fog and see what happens?

Oh, it is a very interesting idea!
I was thinking this way a few months ago. Now I think that unless you expect the fog to appear, you brain will generate continuation of the place you are in (like in Minecraft). Maybe your brain was overload ^^.
I had an interesting low-level lucid dream experience a long time ago. I was in a city and I couldn't look in one direction. When I rotated, the surrounding rotated in the opposite orientation, so I couldn't see what there was. I thought it was the edge of my dream world at the moment.
