      Angry Yet to attain lucidity...HELP!!

So I've been trying to lucid dream for the longest time, like years now. Almost all of the methods have been attempted minus DEILD. I know at times I get discouraged and the focus is on and off because I just seem to give up. I just need some tips or pointers to heighten ADA and also how to get in the habit of performing meaningful RC's. Please help for I've been maintaining a dream journal and I don't have a steady enough sleep schedule to rely on WILD. Anyone assist me for I am new around here...thanks!

Try SSILD, but be aware that by using SSILD you have a chance of having a OBE, what if you are not ready can be really scary, but SSILD in my opnion is the easiest way of having a LD, if you decide to try here's the link http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/senses...-ssild-129734/

To heighten your ADA skills you can put a watch or bracelet on your wrist, and every time you feel it throughout the day, remember to be aware and double check your surroundings. To have meaningful reality checks, don't heck casually ask yourself if your dreaming than quickly do a reality check. Take time in doing it and genuinely consider the fact that you may infact be dreaming. You can't know for sure when your dreaming until you do a reality check or two, because in a dream you don't think your dreaming either right? While doing your reality checks, have heightened awareness as well and look around your environment for dream signs, vague images, ect. Good luck!

When you do a reality check, acquire a sort of mindset that has the feel of just figuring out you might be in a dream. What I do is I group my fingers in to 2 and 3 to make sure there are 5 and I also check for shortness in some fingers (once you keep doing doing this, you can perform this reality check quicker) and right after I see no difference, I hold my nose and try to breath, just to make sure, and if I can't breathe I know I am not dreaming. Just keep doing these and others if you wish but try to really feel as if you think you might be in a dream. Perform these whenever something out of the ordinary happens and whenever it comes to mind. I know you may have already done these but maybe you just did them while already knowing the answer. If you keep doing these, later you have a chance of doing it in a dream. I gt tired of doing RC's so I stopped but somehow I ended up doing one in my dream! Once you've done it in a dream, you will really question yourself when doing it in real life. Have fun!

I started doing this today ever since I found out about it. Much thanks! Like the weather drastically changed within minutes and I thought it was bizarre so I meaningfully did a RC and I also did acknowledge much more details in my surroundings within my own mind.

You say you have not tried DEILD? I am sure you have awakened from a dream in the middle of the night before... we all do occasionally. Try this: When this does occur don't move and try visualizing the dream you just had while reminding yourself that you will awaken in the dream. Good luck to you!

As Face said. My first happened some days ago in the middle of a nap where i woke up and tried to fall asleep again without moving at all, and as i was drifting away i thought about lucid dreaming in general.

I could feel the paralysis sneaking up on me and i saw colors on my eyelids, not knowing what happened (i didn't know this technique at that time) i just went with it and found myself in a dream after only 10 sec.

I believe this is a great method of achieving your first LD, since it doesn't take practice and avoids a regular WILD (which some people are afraid of or can't enter).

I've absolutely no idea why a few seconds of general hypnagogic reverie induced through brief exploration of form constants behind the eyelids shortly before sleep may bring on intense OBEs or lucid dreams, as is the foundation of so-called SSILD.

You sound as if you're starting to stress out over this now so I would recommend a couple of weeks break, spending 30 minutes each night before sleep practising some relaxation and unfocussed visualisation. Give your mind a shake-down and take a short rest.
