Hmm interesting this might explain why I am unaware os certain things even though I am lucid. Like even if know I am dreaming I might not remember that dream characters aren't real. |

I do not know if it can be called a new technique (in this case, perhaps it would be named LMILD = lucid MILD), partly because I do not know if it works. I started a few months ago to experience lucid dreams but always through WILD and DEILD, never by DILD. In my dreams the dream signs run happily in front of me without I realize the slightest doubt I could be dreaming, despite during wakefulness I uses all the tricks connected to them (now I can't get into a bath without doing a reality check). The idea came to me while reading a book by Charles Tart about altered states of consciousness, in which he says that different states of consciousness (such as the state of waking and of dreaming) access to resources of memory that are normally different (with some parts common, especially on long-term memory). This made me assume that I do not remember the dreams signs during the dream because they are stored in a memory inaccessible from inside the dream, or little accessible so that are covered by the dream distractions. |

this night I found myself dreaming and reflecting on a dream, and at awakening I realized I had been very close to a DILD. exiting the next dream I had a short lucid, and I used it for fixing the suggestion about another dream sign. I seem to be very closer to achieving a DILD, I persevere. I'm going to use the next lucid to fix in the memory of the dream the mantra I repeat going to bed ("I dream and I know I'm dreaming"), in order to associate it with the state of lucidity. |

This sounds very interesting and I could definitely see it working. It's something I'd consider having a go at myself. Good luck! |

Nice, practising lucid dreaming in a lucid dreaming. Great idea I'll definetely give it a try. |

Hmm, I've been a bit afraid I'd get a perfect lucid dream once and just not have another one for some while after that. I'll definitely use my next one to do this, since I have the same problem; the exact same things I give total thought to during the day go right passed me without batting an eye. |

There was a thread recently AFAIK where someone suggest the idea that trying to remember things from real life during a lucid dream may help you to become lucid long term. |

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.
Likely, as it allows you to focus on "solid" facts and not fall victim to the dream turbolences. But in this case it is a different thing: not a method for prolonging the lucid dreams but to better remember in following dreams the elements that let we turn lucid; in short, to educate the memory of the dream state. |
