Ability to wake up motionless after REM periods

      Hi,
I have acquired the ability to wake motionless, eyes closed after REM periods up to five times a night. I learned this because about two weeks ago I read a post about DEILD saying that you could re-enter a dream with this technique. This night, I became conscious of a micro awakening, and thought that if I was able to this naturally, it would be a lot easier. I somehow learned to do this but never succeeded until I realized it was almost impossible because I was not in a REM period.

So the question is... Is there any technique that could let me use that ability to achieve lucidity?

      Thanks for reading,
      Simon

Yes, I read the guide, plus a couple others, however, I can't get in SP / into the dream. Nothing happens I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

      Thanks for your help,

But..., but... your goal is not SP, it's to fall asleep into a dream while aware. If you waiting for SP, sorry to disappoint you, you will fail.

You managed to achieve what most of us here try to. To stay motionless when waking up at night. Now all you have to do, is to keep still each time you wake up and when you wake up from a dream,. that's when you can enter another dream lucidly.

So the only missing ingredient from your list is a dream. Keep trying and I bet you will get lucid in a next few days. Happy dreams

There are REM dreams and NREM dreams. It is a common misconception that dreams only occur in REM. Simply visualize the dream you were having.

Thank you all for this great advice. I know I don't get in SP when I do it because my first LD was an unintentional DEILD and went strait into the dream. I will keep trying until I get it to work!!! I also read that you are still in REM for a short amount of time after a dream ends, witch explains why it could work. Thanks again for replying so quickly!!!

Yes just keep at it at when the time is right...oh boy you're in for a treat!

Drink a glass or two of water before bedtime; should help keep you aware(er)

Try to stay dreamy even though your awake. If your too aware, it probably wont work.

Hey guys I have an other question! So, something weird happens to me sometime. I just want to know if anyone ever experienced that or something similar. Sometimes, when I am waking up [before attempting DEILD], I see myself in my bed, but in third person. I normally don't realize it until I am conscious enough, about 3-4 secs after. Did you ever heard about that? Did you ever experience that?

      Thanks,
      Simon

Also! Sometimes, when a dream is ending and I'm about to wake up, I can feel my real body (or see it in 3rd person like described above) and the dream that is slowly fading. Sometime I can sort of "step" in the dream or mentally say I'm dreaming and eventually get lucid, but other times I am not fully aware or my brain is working in slow-motion. Sometimes the dream has faded too much for me to enter it. I had one LD with that, and it happened two times lately (but did not manage to get lucid).
So... Any comments, reactions or piece of advice about this, or is it a bit too specific?

I often feel both bodies upon awakening, I don't ever see it in 3rd person though.
I would say spin with your dream body when you feel that. It has given me great results. Just make sure not to spin the wrong body. If you can't do that, then just imagine spinning, then you can move after that normally.

About your question on 3rd person dreams, there's a good thread here /f45/can-dreams-third-person-136658 and about stabilizing the dream you should read this /wiki/Dream-Stabilization-and-Clarity-Tutorial if you haven't already.

Dutchraptor's guide is also greatfor DEILD training, you can find it at /f49/dutchraptors-deild-guide-become-ld-god-134760/

Good luck and remember to project and eat a little snack when you get lucid, it's free!

Note that in every link, you should put dreamviews.com behind, I'm only 3 days member and I can't post links!!!

Thank you! I have read dutchraptor's guide and think it's one of the best guides to DEILD out there! Weird coincidence: I am also a member since 3 days!

Waking up motionless is half the battle! For me it only take about 10-20 seconds to get right back into the dream. If it takes much longer than that I usually have woken up too much and cannot complete. Make sure you really are not moving an inch or that could make the DEILD take much longer.
