Seeking accounts of those who questioned dream logic prior to achieving lucidity.

Twice within the past week I've questioned dream logic without becoming lucid. ("Why does that person only have one eye? Scary!" "How can only the torso and head of a llama count as a zoo animal?")

I'm assuming that this is a good sign, and am pleased with the progress.

Essentially I'm trying to figure out if I'm on the cusp of dreaming lucidly. I know it's different for every person, but I'm hoping to read some encouraging personal accounts from those who experienced a similiar situation.

TL;DR: I'm not asking for advice, I just want to hear stories from those who non-lucidly questioned dream logic and then started having lucid dreams within the next few days/weeks.

Basically I'm on the hunt for encouraging anecdata. Or even "yeah, happened to me, but didn't become lucid for another three months."

Using logic in dreams, if you had not used it before, is indeed a good sign. This usually starts happening, when your daytime training starts to manifest itself in your dreams.

I can only guess, that you have been doing maybe some RCs with questioning your reality. I would advise to add more daytime awareness training to your current training, so you can get over the hump and get lucid.

Your guess is correct, I've been practicing reality checks and asking myself if I am dreaming frequently. I'll definitely try to set aside some chunks of time during the day for ADA.

Thank you for the encouragement, though! This helps me believe that I'm almost there, and maybe it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy

Intent and believing in yourself plays huge role in lucid dreaming. So yes, self-fulfilling profecies are happening here every day. You are no exception. Keep your intent and excitement going and be ready for your first lucid. I would not be surprised, if you had it tonight.

Ohh haha this has happened so many times for me. Usually it's with places: for example, I'd go through a door and it leads to somewhere it shouldn't and i think "Wait what. I'm supposed to be in the classroom. Why did that door lead me to the mountain? Oh well." Then I just carry on. The most annoying ones are those where i specifically talk to a dream character about the dream being weird and that it must be a dream, yet I never really "comprehend" that it's a dream, so I never get lucid. But yes, that is a good sign since you're starting to build up awareness

      faceonmars and typedef like this.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Oh, that must be so frustrating! So does this still occur on occasion even though, according to your profile sidebar thing, you've had many lucid dreams?

Oh sure! It happens many times in a week, though usually just very minor stuff and short logical moments. But yea, most of my dreams have those "logical moments that should've made me lucid".

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

yes, you are very close. I joined in august and i would discuss LDing in my dreams with dream chars. I now avergae about one LD a week, sometimes more. Remeber, keep up the effort and you will get there quicker than you realise. One thing that is great is the FINGER method. I knwo it sounds weird but that wih a WILD is what i use if i really want to have a lucid dream that night.

Neat, I somehow hadn't heard of FILDs before! Definitely will try this!

I guess you could compare Lucid Dreams & Reality to a computer, the only difference between reality and a lucid dream is that one is stored on the Hard Drive and the other purely in RAM, if you don't try to remember it, you wont.

Yup, I've become lucid this way several times. Sometimes when something weird or impossible happens it makes me question reality, then I will do a reality check to confirm that I am dreaming. Sometimes it's when something scary happens, (I have lots of bad dreams, so this is a good general type of dream sign for me). Like most recently, I was afraid of a giant tree falling on me, but I thought "nothing can hurt me in a dream," and I suddenly became lucid.
Then there's also good things that happen in dreams that cans park lucidity. My thought process is something like "This is great, but this sort of thing only happens in my dreams... So I'm probably dreaming." Those are slightly disappointing, I guess, but better than waking up still thinking it's real.

Over the decades I have noticed that strange environments tend to bring on my lucidity less frequently then more familiar dreamscapes. One would think that surreal dreams ( i.e. riding on a private jet with Elvis) would be more conducive for me to question the logic of the situation. Its just the opposite. If a dream scene feels more like real life ( i.e. me simply walking down a street) I have a tendency to question it. I know that sounds counter-intuitive but it is just the way it works out most times for me. As for as you questioning the logic I would say you are getting very close to having lucid dreams on a more regular basis.

I can actually see how this would make sense. It's likely that the majority of the time when you are questioning logic and reality checking you're in your "normal" world. So if that normal world carried over to your dream world, you'd probably continue to question your reality as though you were awake.

      Interesting to consider!

True.... besides, if I find myself hanging out with Elvis on a private jet (an actual dream I had recently) then I can be sure any frontal lobe activity has been shut down.
