"knew I was lucid but wasnt lucid"

So I had a dream last night where, randomly, I was in a small room with someone that looked like a washroom stall but in my dream wasnt. A kid poked his head above the wall and vomited on me and was annoying me. I was thinking "ok, im dreaming if I think hard enough I can get rid of him" but at the same time I didnt fully click in and I didnt realize I was fully dreaming and could do whatever. I dont get lucid that often and was wondering what I could do to get fully lucid? Just practice more techniques? I have been trying for awhile and have only gotten a 10 second lucid and that one. So not much sucess. I think the green vomit was there because I just watched the exorcist and I think lucidity was in my dream because I recently started browsing this forum again.

Keep your technique, but I recommend adding more daytime awareness. That way you will be more "there" in your lucid and it helps get over the "hump" to get lucid.

The same thing happened to me last night, and I think it happens often to most people trying to LD.

What commonly happens is you'll realize you're dreaming but will still believe that your actions have consequences. You know but your brain just isn't using logic or remembering your real life Like the dream is this narrow story and it's hard to think outside of it, your mind wants to keep you in it, so even if you realize you're dreaming, you'll still believe the story is real.

Just keep practicing. Having a dream like this likely means you're already most of the way there. Just try to remind yourself not to fall for the same thing again. When it next occurs to you that you're dreaming, try your best to remind yourself that none of it is real and that this is the thing you've been working so hard to attain.
