If you sleep deprived, or during nap, you should go straight to REM. That helps with WILD attempt. But you not mentioning if you read some tutorials, so I'm gonna mention WILD (sageous) tutorial. REM and supplements may help, but best thing is to know the basics (I'm not implying that you don't know them) and be ready for everything.
If you going for a DILD, you just go to sleep normally while saying your mantra. But for that to work, you should practice during day awareness, RCs, mantras. Check out DV Academy if you wish.
