      After Your First Lucid Dream

      Hello guys,

I had my first LD a few days ago. I cant help but feel that I got slightly lucky with it. For the past month or two I'd do reality checks and question whether i was dreaming or not. On the day leading up to becoming lucid i dont think i questioned whether i was dreaming at all.
Within the dream when i became lucid, something told me to ask whether or not i was dreaming. I dont remember any dream characters being present at that point, maybe it was my sub conscious i havent got a clue! But as soon as I
asked boom i knew i was dreaming and tried stabilizing the dream because everything started to shake and then i was on my way.
But seen as I feel that i was slightly lucky and havent had a LD since is there anything i can do to try and have another, its not like i tried to get myself in a relaxed state or anything before hand and its not like i changed my diet significantly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My recommendation would be to continue with the basic methods (keeping a dream journal, doing reality checks, etc.) It probably felt like a lot of work for not a lot of return. But if you want to keep having lucid dreams, then continue the basic techniques. I would consider adding a MILD technique into your regimen as well. Also, once you've had a few lucid dreams, you may find that it starts to get easier and lucid dreams come more naturally, although you will still have to apply effort.

The thing that I've realized as of late is that techniques "stack" and everything that you apply pushes you toward more lucid dreams more often. Everything that you do from reality checks to mantras to your dream journal to simple mental prep can better your odds at having a lucid dream.

Do what you were doing the first time to get the LD. Perform constant reality checks during the day, and question your state (Awake or Asleep) You have the right idea going, because you've already gotten one. It could've been luck, but the likelier reason why you got it was because you didn't give up, and if you don't give up now you'll start to have them a lot more often. The beginning is the hardest. It only gets easier.
      Good luck!

      Congratulations!

I agree with what the others said. One good thing to do also is to make a list of goals you want to achieve in your lucids. Then read them a few times a day especially before bed. It helps motivate you and your subconscious that it's something you want to happen.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I would also suggest to not think that it's just luck, but be confident that you are progressing, think positive!

Yeah, I think everything I have been doing has just led up to it. It seemed that it was just dream induced but I'm happy anyway
