      Hate writing my dreams

      Hi all
      I have a problem:
I really hate to write my dreams...
there is no way that I'm gonna use a pen and paper, so I use my computer instead but I still hate it! I can't write more than half a dream until I'm getting sick of it.
I wanted to ask if you would be as effective if I just say out loud my dream, or should it force myself into writing?

      Thanks!

Maybe you could try a tape recorder? Most cell phones now seem to have something that might let you do that. I know I've used my cell to record before. I have this odd problem of going up to a couple hours before my dream recall hits. So I use my phone rather than try to force myself to recall when the recall itself could happen anywhere in my morning routine.
If you're ever fed up with life, try having kids. It'll never be the same...
Plus you can do all that cool kid stuff again without looking like a creep. Bounce House, here I come!!!

Everyone else has a picture down here so here's the best band ever...

There are people who use voice recording instead of pen/paper, or typing them digitally. Whatever works for you.

The idea is to set your intention towards remembering your dreams. Having a log of your dreams also has its advantages, as you can catch recurring elements that can help achieve future lucids.

Like everyone else said, voice recording can work as a method to record dreams.
Alternatively if you aren't able to use voice recording for some reason, you can still give writing/typing a try, but in a bit different way. As you wake up write or type most important events from dream as 'tags', which should not take much, and then through the day when you will be in better mood for writing/typing use the tags to recall the dream fully and make full entry.

Also you can write down key words only, not whole sentences, or even develop some kind of short hand way of recording your dreams. As long as you can understand what is in your journal, no one else need to. Another option is cartooning out the dreams if you prefer drawing cartoons to writing.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

      Respectfully:

Suck it up, c0olL, and write them down. If you're interested in LD'ing, it's worth the extra effort.

Also, keeping a dream journal is probably one of the easiest things you must do to learn LD'ing. If you are disinterested in finishing a very small project like writing for a few minutes, do you really think you're going to want to adapt the mental discipline and sacrifice the time required for DILD? Are you also going to get sick of waiting when attempting a WILD?

The best things don't tend to come easily, c0olL; if you want to get good at this stuff, then keep a dream journal. Think of it as a life lesson: will you also stop doing other hard but necessary things, like studying, work, or helping loved ones, because they're boring as well?

So don't look for shortcuts or easy outs, c0olL, suck it up and do the work... you won't regret it.

For what it's worth, I really hate writing in my dream journal as well. Sometimes it's like getting your teeth drilled, especially when the dream goes on for pages... but I still do it, because doing so has paid off on many levels over the years.

Sorry for jumping on your first post like this, but discipline in LD'ing is a serious subject, and I cannot easily address it in a happy way .. I hope you'll understand and still feel welcome!

When I started out, I hated writing my dreams as well (still do really). One big advantage of writing outside of the obvious is that it takes no trouble to pick up your journal and ponder the previous night's dreams and your corresponding mistakes (before bed is a great time for this). With audio it might just be too easy to file it away and forget about it. Also, if you tend to use multiple techniques during the night that interfere with immediate recalling time or spend a lot of time lucid dreaming, the process of detailed writing is the best remedy to bring the earlier material back.

Personally I love going into my dream journal and recalling everything that occurred, but I feel your pain it is a hassle! The thing I don't like about it is I find it sometimes can mess up my sleep schedule. It seems a lot easier to just turn over and try to enter another LD again when awaking from one, but this can muddle dream recall something fierce. But then on the flip side, getting up and writing everything down sometimes just makes me more awake and ruins the flow of things. Hmm..decisions, decisions...

Yeah before i found a note pad i used my phone's voice recorder, it's kind of nice because you can listen to it at any time in the day.

I buy fancy leather journals, and really believe what I am doing is serious research. LDs are a new field of study and I like contributing to the science. Someday some descendent of mine might find real value in these writings. Also, maybe years from now I will see some dreams were premonitions of true events. Anyway I usually look fwd to journalling as I relive the experience by doing so. Guess I am not the norm though.

I can make myself write out lines of my dreams, even when I'm half asleep, but I have another problem. My Dad wakes me up every day, and he gets me up and out of the door in minutes. I have no time to write down my dreams.

^^ You could wake up a little earlier.

      Just a thought.
