      A thought about MILD

Everyone here knows MILD - basically, you'll do something like wake up and recall your last dream, visualise seeing a DS in it and becoming lucid, then go back to sleep saying an affirmation. I realised recently there's an assumption about MILD - that when we go back to the dream we'd occupy the same dream body we did before. Why not go back to the dream and expect to find your old dream body there while you have a new one? You'd have a clone of yourself in a dream that you could collaborate with to do dreamy goals. Spotting yourself in a dream would also make you more likely to realise it's a dream.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

That's a good idea, Bobblehat. One clarification though, in MILD, it is not necessary to wake up and go back to bed. In simplest terms, MILD is simply a way of inducing a lucid dream by using mnemonics, affirmations, autosuggestions or mantras prior to sleeping in an attempt to make the subconscious remember it once we start dreaming and thus trigger lucidity. MILD is best used with WBTB, hence this might be why you thought about the waking up and going back to bed part.

      Have a nice day~

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

It hasn't worked that well, paigeyemps. I think the difficulty is in visualising yourself. Visualising a DC that I remember seeing in the dream has worked, with the next dream including that DC. Didn't lead to lucidity though.

That is how I first became lucid i think it is one of the best dream signs
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Maybe check (or re-check this hidden gem) Lidybug's thread:

Perhaps try seeing yourself from the different perspectives above IWL, maybe during daily awareness practice and/or RCs. If I am sitting in my house I just pick an object or spot on the wall, ceiling or floor and "look at myself." In the beginning it could help to physically see yourself from different angles using 2 mirrors, video of self, or self shots from your camera.

fogelbise when I read that post my first thought was "I wonder if I could possess other dream characters" lol

I like your idea also Bobblehat about having a second self in the dream. That could be interesting for many reasons and I wonder if you could control them both simultaneously. With my history of dreams though, my other self would probably just try to kick my ass... haha. It does seem like it would be hard to visualize yourself though. Maybe using a slightly different concept like expecting that a copy of your consciousness is already there in the dream would cause that consciousness to automatically fill a copy of your body. Just tossing ideas.

I am too scared for that...on the off chance that some dream character is an actual being in a shared dream or something. I don't really believe that is possible, but can't rule it out. Impressive set of accomplishments in your spoiler sig!

Hm. My instinct is to say that's not possible but I guess you never know, there has been a time or two that I would have sworn a DC was a real entity that I just happened to meet inside my head. I feel like you would be able to tell the difference between a regular DC and one who is something more though? My DCs usually seem... Vacant.

Thank you btw, I actually meant to remove that when I came back lol. More of them are still goals than anything, I was checking them off as I went and now I need to resume . Reading here on the forum about other people's accomplishments and ideas is good encouragement and motivation! It's hard to believe I was away from here for 2 years.

Welcome back! Did you get burned out on lucid dreaming at all? If so, I just want to avoid that!

Thanks no no it was nothing like that, lucid dreaming was always very enjoyable. Basically some things in my life at the time made it really difficult to "find time" to keep up with my dream journal and such so my recall went out the window and I kind of let it all slip my mind. New job, new gf that I decided to move in with, she had a 2yr old living with us... That kinda dumb stuff lol. I'm starting to get my crap straight now and LD is one of the things I want to pick back up. It was hard to get motivated at first but here I am!

Funny!...and strikes a chord with me...those darn important things! When you froze a DC was it like frozen in ice or frozen in time? Something on my LD bucket list is to freeze DCs in time.

Oh, by the way I did read that some people are able to possess or control DCs but apparently it is next to impossible to control a whole crowd of them individually at the same time. Who knows, there may be a way for that as well. I tend to think that almost nothing is impossible in LDs. Perhaps one simple solution would be to tell the whole crowd do each to their own thing, go off in their own directions and it seems like you could have a level of control... But I digress...

Well I said dumb stuff because as it turns out it was a mistake and I should have gone a completely different direction, but it happens. Haha

It was freezing as in ice, I mentioned in my DJ "block of ice" but if memory serves me I was trying to do that but couldn't finish forming the block. He was unable to move and turned blue. The way I did that was odd, I'm not even sure how I came up with it I just did it. I pointed four fingers at him and made a sound with my mouth like wssshhhhhhh and was thinking of a freezing cold breeze. Lol. When you say freeze in time do you mean like... Slowing down time so much for that DC that it stops? Just thought about this, once I yelled "ENOUGH!" in the middle of a big fistfight and everyone froze in place and I walked away. My intent when I said it was that they just stop fighting and leave me alone, but I'll take what I can get! (there are always violent DCs in my lucids, it's really annoying sometimes) Is that kind of what you mean? The feeling I got though was more like I had shut off their ai, like hitting the switch on a robot.

Right, I've heard of controlling DCs but I thought it was more like commanding them what to do or maybe even controlling their movement with your mind. Maybe that was an assumption on my part. Just seems like a cool idea to put your consciousness inside another DC and control them from the inside. I wonder if that would feel different than controlling your own dream body though, or if you could control both at once? Wow that would be insane to control a bunch of them at once. I could see doing it by command or willpower if the dream control was good enough, but imagine splitting your consciousness into several people... I've heard of people seeing 360 degrees or forward and backward at the same time so I guess it would be possible purely in theory if nothing else. I agree with you anything is probably possible. The question is will we have the control to do it

Nice control. I don't think I would like a lot of violent DCs, luckily that is fairly rare for me so far. Yes, basically time stops for them but not for me...I think I got it from an old Twilight Zone episode where the main character was using a pocket watch (I think) to stop time around him and he was able to walk amongst the "frozen" townspeople.

I bet people have done it both ways: jedi mind trick and possession. Even if some things seem impossible, I think you can't let yourself think that way or you will find more and more things that you determine are impossible but may not be. I am sure you have seen something that someone says they just can't do in their dreams that you found to be easy.

Sorry I took this thread off on a tangent Bobblehat...maybe it will bring more people with answers. I don't think I mentioned it in this thread but a few of my lucids I took to be a direct result of visualizing myself from different angles. For those lucids I saw myself in the dream and boom...lucid.
