      Thumbs up Is it possible to do too many Reality Checks? ( In one day )

      Currently, I have my phone set to remind me to do Reality Checks every Half Hour. (30 Minutes)
      Is it possible to do too many? Is that too many? I have the reminder set to happen from 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM. (PST)
      That would be about 24 Reality Checks in the day. What do you think

      I don't necessarily think that it's too many, though if you are using them that much.. You could be slowly defeating the purpose of having the reality check if your beginning to subconsciously know what the answer to your reality check is. That being "Yes I'm Awake/No, I'm not dreaming". The RC will slowly loose it's effectiveness. However, If your using them the correct way, then I can't really see how upping your reality checks in number would begin to become 'bad', or counter-productive.

      I agree with Validus.

      So long as you don't burn out from repetitiveness they will still be effective.
      But you have to actually check the nature of your reality. The moment you give into mindlessness you've killed the point

      To add on to what's already been said, it would make sense to focus more on the actual reality aspects of your reality checks. Such as paying attention with intent detail to your fingers.

      Since you have your timer set up, you will be thinking about RCin more often. You may find, that you even think about that between your alerts. If that happens, you can lover the frequency of your alerts to maybe one in 2-4 hours, or whatever is comfortable to you. That way you will be doing most of the RCs spontaneously, and in case you forget, you still have the phone reminder.

      It's always better to mix up the reason/prompt to RC. A few spontaneous ones, few phone alarms, when something strange happens, when you get up from bed...

      And as it was said, more important than quantity is the quality. You really have to stop, look around, ask yourself where are you, how you got there, question your reality, believe, that you could be in a dream, and then make a firm affirmation, that next time when you are dreaming, you will realize that.

      One more thing;
      Can reality checks make my dreams more vivid?
      I already do try to dreamjournal, (Current problem being i remember my dream when i get in the shower.), but could reality checks also help
      make them more vivid?

      Also, How many reality checks a day would be best, assuming they are at peak quality?

      This makes perfect, now that I think about it I may consider making a few modifications to my RCs. Can't lie, I have moments when I rhetorically question myself which makes the RC pointless like you said. Lately I've been convincing myself that I'm actually dreaming instead of ASKING myself if I'm dream, then I proceed to do an RC. Hopefully this will produce some results. I've been a little stagnant for a few days, need some change!

      You're can never do too many, you can only do them with the wrong attitude. If you're not really taking them seriously then it wont matter how many you do!

      Good lucky!
