How often should you be attaining lucidity before trying to stabilise and control your lucid dreams

At the moment I tend to have 1-2 lucid dreams per month, technically, usually after noticing a dream sign, but in all of them I have woken up either immediately or 2-3 seconds after I realised I was dreaming, which I know is very common. I have been told I am supposed to rub hands together and focus on the dream when I become lucid, but I wake up before I can even think of doing this. I'm guessing I need to have more LDs to get my mind used to this state, but how often have others been achieving lucidity before they were able to stabilise, or how long did it take them to reach this stage?

I would argue that a dreamer should focus on stabilization almost immediately. What's the point of getting lucid just to lose it seconds later? I would say focus on some techniques for stabilization that you can practice in your waking life to transfer into your dreams.

As for control, that one might take a little more time, especially if you're only lucid for seconds at a time.

Do you get too much excited when you realize that you're dreaming? Or do you try to feel to your real body when you're lucid? Because both things can wake you up instantly.
Other thing that can be happening is that you got used to losing the dream after getting lucid and now you believe that you will lose the dream and that's what makes it ends

I agree completely. I haven't had many lucids, but only on the first one did I wake up right away. I thought well, it won't happen next time. You can change your mantra (if you're using one) to something like "next time I become lucid, I will stay in the dream".

I think you should try to stabilise the dream as soon as you get lucid. For me, RCs work just fine with stabilisation, they bring the dream into focus. If you need extra vividness, I've successfully attained it by just shouting "clarity now!" a couple of times towards the sky. But of course, this may not work for everyone.

Just make it a habit to RC right after getting lucid. If you concentrate enough in it, it should make a difference. You don't need to have many lucids before, the sooner you start, the sooner you'll master it
