      WILD never works?

I've tried WILD many many times. Atleast 30 times. But I never seem to be able to reach a lucid dream. There have been a few times where I just fell asleep. But most of the time I end up NEVER falling asleep. I lay completly still, focus on counting, and then I just end up laying there for an hour or more many times, with no success. Why is this? I sometimes get to the point of slight hypnagogia, but it never reaches a further point than that.
What might be the cause of this?

Hmmm...maybe you need a catalyst for your WILDs. So when your body is completely "frozen" by REM atonia (AKA S.P. or sleep paralysis),
Try to imagine a scenery or place you want to be, or imagine yourself in somewhere you like, and explore your surroundings. As you start imagining the scenery, try to focus on details, and use all 5 senses on something. Focus on your dream and not on your real body. Then, the scenery should get more alive, and BOOM you are in a dream.

EDIT: Yes, when you are in REM Atonia (SP) you are already dreaming

Hi simonsms , maybe you are doing something wrong:
Time (after 6 hours of sleep or during a nap)
Completly still (if you are layong completly still maybe you are using a muscle i.e. There human statue that stand completly still and they use all there muscles. So you need to make sure you RELAX completly still)
Wake up (i now most people will go against me or not but if you wake up and you don't move you will be very tired and WILD will have more pourcentage to work)
If i am wrong with anything tell me.

I recommend this excellent detailed tutorial WILD

Please disregard everything about SP/REM atonia. Byt the time you are in it, you are already asleep and DREAMING. (REM stage = Rapid Eye Movement = dreaming stage of sleep).

      Good luck.

      30 is not many tries. I try to WILD (5 times a night X 7 night =) 35 times a week and I have 1 or 2 WILDs a week, and this is with almost 3 years of practice. (5 times a night X 7days a week X 52 weeks in a year X 3 years = 5,460 tries).

I would recommend checking out the guide that gab sent you to as well as these:
