Hey there,
For my own dream journal, I make a difference between what I call 'awareness dreams' and 'lucid dreams'. Technically, both are lucid dreams, but in the first, awareness dreams, I am aware of dreaming, evident by certain reactions, like the use of dream control to change obstacles or just things I don't like within the plot, but I don't have the clarity of mind to remember my dream goals and act independantly of the dream plot I'm involved in. When I do have that clarity of mind, I tag my dream as a full 'lucid dream'.
To give an example. Last night, in one dream, I was in the park, with some dog or small animal as a pet, and a guy who had a bear with him wanted to have his bear hunt my pet. I told him no, and told him if he did so I would simply deal with the bear, knowing I had my dream control at my disposal to change that element. However, I didn't have the clarity of mind to stop the dream plot and go follow my own dream goal. Instead, once the guy backed off, I kept following my route (I was jogging in that dream). So I tagged this one as an 'awareness dream'.
In a later dream that night, I was at my appartement, where strange steel like cables were taking on a life of their own and snapping and whipping at me in a threatening manner. This activated my lucidity sense (threats are a dream sign for me). I used some dream manipulation to stop the cables from snapping, just so they wouldn't get in my way. Then I ignored the cables and the rest of the dream plot altogether. Remember my dream goal to bring a dream character into the dream, I moved to the nearest door and used a door-trick to act upon my chosen dream goal for that night instead. So this dream, I did tag as a lucid dream.
Just my 2 cents,
