waking myself up for a WILD

What I really want to try next to lucid dream is a WBTB, I sleep so deep it's almost impossible for me to do a DILD despite trying for months which is all i've tried so far except for a few nights trying WBTB. I've come so close to sleep paralysis but always fall asleep. If I could set my alarm clock and let it wake me up it would be much easier because I fall back to sleep almost instantly. My problem is everytime I set my alarm clock to any time at night I will wake up about ten minutes before the alarm goes off and be wide awake. How can I wake myself up and still be tired? Any tips on how to stay awake would also be appreciated. Just realized I misnamed the title sorry about that

It's a thin line you have to learn to cross when it comes to achieving lucidity with WILD. On the one hand, you shouldn't be too sleepy as then you would fall asleep immediately and miss the transition. If you're too sleepy then I would recommend undertaking either mental or gentle physical activies - get up, read about lucidity, repeat mantras.

On the other hand, you don't want to wake yourself too much as to make it impossible to fall asleep. In general, it helps to try to feel as much at ease in such situtations. I tend to sometimes become extra nervous about not being able to fall asleep which doesn't help the situation at all. To remedy that I focus on relaxing instead of fighting hard to fall asleep. Sometimes I would just focus on the pleasant darkness behind my eyelids or the feeling of my body, gravity, etc. This can be a good anchor for WILD as well as it helps you both focus and relax at the same time without forcing anything.
Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.
