      I would have to think about your first question. First, I probably stumbled upon this as like you, I wanted to minimize disturbances to my wife. I've been leaving the bed as long as I can remember. And I got into lucid dreaming in the early 2000 timeframe. This method kinda came to fruition on it's own. As one of my early methods was to use a lucid dream mask to induce lucidity. And I came to realize that I had false awakenings very easily. Which lead me to leaving out things to retrieve with the intent of realizing I'm dreaming where I left off in waking reality.

      I used to have a lot more flexibility in my schedule. Now maybe I try every other week on average. My odds of getting lucid are very good as long as I use some galantamine. Pretty much a given. Yeah it's cheating I guess. But it does work.

      Oh, I mean that slightly tongue in cheek. It just seems that there are quite a few people here who are purists. Which is to say they don't seem to care for technology solution (electronics or drugs) to get lucid. Honestly I come from a different mind set all together. But it's all good.
