      Unhappy No LDs for Stressed People?

      I'm a majorly stressed guy. I won't go into the details but lets just say that financially, professionally, relationally, academically, and pretty much any other category you can think of - well, its difficult.

      I've read that most people who are stressed or preoccupied have difficulty achieving lucidity... And from my experience (0 LDs) i guess so.

      I am pretty good at relaxation/meditation/keeping my mind clear and all that stuff, but still no luck.

      Any of you experts deal with stress in a special way that helps? This goes way beyond LDing, and is more about quality of life if you ask me. Lucidity is just the door.

      I'm no expert at LDing yet, but what I do to get rid of stress is do something that makes me happy. Believe it or not, it works. And for all the other things, take care of them a little bit at a time. Rushing to get everything done at once will probably cause you more stress.

      Hope that helps.

      If you are good at focusing the mind, as you say you are a good meditator, one should think it counteracts whatever harm that stress does. The main issue with stress is that it forces the dreamer to think about stuff unrelated to dreaming (especially as they fall asleep). As long as you are able to relinquish that stress and focus on dreaming at night, then you should be fine. =)

      Also, you haven't even been here a month! Lucidity takes time! Don't give up or make excuses just yet, and keep working hard so that you have less reason to stress. You'll get there.

      Try to turn this into a kind of hobby. I get almost obsessed over things that I enjoy. When I was younger it was skateboarding, now its motorcyle riding. Its a great escape because you'll think about those things more and not so much the bad things. If you turn lucid dreaming into a hobby, you may think about it soo much that the bad thoughts will not be there as often.
      I've always had troubled thoughts as I'm lying in bed, even now. Its like every single problem you may have goes thorugh your head. But now that I'm constantley thinking about lucidity when I lay down, the stress isn't there as often. Simply becasue I'm focussed so much on lucid dreaming.
      Hope this helps some.

      I think that any excuse to help rid yourself of stress is a good thing. If you believe that stress may be holding you back from attaining lucidity, then work to rid yourself of the stress. Remember, dreams are heavily based on expectation and beliefs.

      Try to keep in mind that stress is not the killer, it is how you handle the stress. Nobody's life is perfect. You can have stressful things going on in your life, but if you handle yourself well, you can keep the stress from getting to you. I suspect that your awareness of the stress is a sign that you are more in control than you might believe. Your interest in tackling it through meditation and dream work suggest to me that you have things under control

      yep...stress = no good dreams

      last month was fine for me, but this month has been very stressful. my sis's wedding, my mom's 50th birthday, inventory at work, family visiting - something goes on every weekend. and while its fun, it stresses me because I haven't finished any artwork this month and I am trying to become a pro artist.

      if I dont make or finish art, that can't happen. thus, I'm stressed out!

      the wedding is this weekend, and everything is finally settling down, so maybe I can have some nice dreams now

      When I'm stressed, it does affect my lucid dreaming. But if I do make it, becoming lucid, my stress goes away afterwards. It's like a hit or miss type of thing.
