      The Microcosmic Orbit meditation

      Hello everyone!

I'd like to tell you about this taoist enegy meditation that i have been doing for the last four months because I found out that it is very effective.

It's really simple. Basically you just direct your attention to certain points in the body in a sequence.

      These are the points:

      1. the navel/area slightly below the navel (either one, whichever feels better)
      2. point just above genitals
      3. the perineum
      4. the tailbone
      5. in the arch of the spine where kidneys are located
      6. opposite solar plexus
      7. between shoulder blades
      8. the base of neck
      9. the back of your head
      10. the crown of your head
      11. between eyebrows
      12. the roof of your mouth
      13. in the soft "hole" in your throat
      14. middle of chest
      15. solar plexus
      16. and back to the navel/subnavel spot.

The idea is to "highlite" the spot with your awareness. You should feel something in the area you are focusing on, pressure, warmth, tingling etc. That is a sign of chi flowing. When you feel something, move along to the next spot. Just cycle your awareness along the points up the spine and down the front always beginning and ending at the navel/sub-navel (there is an energy storage center there).
If you cant feel anything thats fine, just move to the next spot.

This balances your energy centers, clears blockages and trains your nervous system to feel energy among other things.

Note that you dont have to believe in chi to make this work. You can just think of it as training your nervous system to experience certain things. If you do certain things, certain things will follow.

What i have experienced so far after four months of intense training:

Blissful states, sometimes it feels like im tripping on extacy
Overall increase of happiness and "feelgood"
      More at ease with people
Heightened senses, especially sight and feeling
      more balanced emotionally
      More coherent thinking
More vivid and long lucid dreams (about once or twice a week)

and thats just after four months! There's still lots of energy blockages, but they are beginning to slowly melt away.

I recommend everyone to try it, and see if anything happens. For some it may take longer for the body to respond - I did this for a week before anything noteworthy happened, but my friend did it once and instantly had better feelings. It's different for everyone.

Here's a link to a book that explains it more in depht. There's lots of stuff there, check out especially the "points along the microcosmic orbit" section.

Thank you for this information! Unfortunately all I can find at my library by that author is these:
Catalog Results - 'Chia, Mantak, 1944-'

I put a hold on, "Healing Light of the Tao" just in case it covers some of the same stuff. Printing this post!

It's a good excercise, indeed. A strong mind needs room to stretch, it's not healthy for people to keep their awareness all knotted up - it needs to stretch too.

I do this type of meditation every day - as outlined in Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics. I've been training for a long while in manipulating the subtle energy body/chi/qui/etc, and learning about the major chakras.

I always find it excellent to see other people practicing energy work and meditation - it's one of the most important things I've learned in the past year or so

I've been practicing the microcosmic orbit for somewhere around a year or two now....it's an excellent tool for meditation and energywork. I've been meaning to start doing it in my lucid dreams and OBEs.

Im very curious about two off the points you mention

      1. the point between the eyebrows - when i meditate this point often starts to tingle.. could this mean i have an energyblocade there?

      2. solar plexus - i saw a video with a women who had a near death experience. she said that she saw silver strings attached to peoples solar plexus and then connected to other people. i also heard similar things from other people who had NDEs. do you guys feel something speciel when you meditate on this spot? Like connection other people or the universe.. something like that?

and also do you compliment this kind of meditaion other kinds?

If at any point there is pain, discomfort or stiffness I assume theres an energy blockage. So if the tingling is uncomfortable there might be. Otherwise, its a sign of energy flowing.

I havent had any experience with silver strings or connected feelings related to this point yet, but its a good thing that you feel such connection, maybe the spot is more active in you.

As for recommendations, cant really say. I do a bit of yoga and breathing meditations also, but nothing has worked so fast as this meditation.

The tingling sensation is most likely energy moving. That chakra may be at least partially open or active. When there is a blockage, typically there is pain or aching. Everyone feels chi (energy) in different ways. Personally it's like a buzzing sensation for me, and it's warm.

As for the solar plexus, I haven't experienced strings or seen any. But I do feel that it is my core. In Taoist tradition, this shouldn't be so, because there are three reservoirs of chi: at the third eye, the heart, and below the navel. The lowest dan tien is considered the "sea of chi." But for me, I feel that my chi seems to reside mostly in my solar plexus. It's a bit weird. In any case, I've found that my experiences fit most closely with the Taoist tradition of chi, chakras and chi pathways in the body.

I did this for an intense summer a few years back. I also practiced abstainance as well, which is also suggested in the Mantauk Chia books.
Powerfull results, especially in conjuction with the horse stance thing where you pick up your arms all slow and spiral the energy between your fingers.

I had one of the most amazing dreams in my life during this period. I was contacted by a being who professed to be from the Sirius system, and though it may sound a bit out there. I kind of believe it was a real person. I need to dig that dream out of my old dream journal and jot it down.
