      Smile Testing your subconcious

      Hello everyone!
I would like to know if any of you have ever tried to “test” your subconscious in any way. What I mean by this is; have you ever done something like read a page from a book, and then read the same page in a lucid dream to see whether everything is as it should be? If so, how was it? And what do you think would be the best method to test your subconscious?
I surly would like to try something like this when I achieve more lucid dreams…
And by the way people, I am somewhat new to this site, I joined today. But I have been looking at it for a while now, I just never got around to making an account—I wonder if that counts as being new? Hehe, well thanks everyone in advance!

Hello ,this is actually my first ever post, I have been lurking around here for a bit as well. Every time I have gone lucid in a dream, I do EVERYTHING I can to test my subconscious. My favorite thing to do is look at myself in the mirror. I've read some reports that say your reflection is blurry in dreams, but that is not the case with me. My reflection is almost perfect. Down to little marks, freckles, etc. I look at tiny details in my reflection and am astounded at the lucidity of the dream and the accuracy of my freakin subconscious!

I guess the other thing I do is I observe textures on everything. I look at grass, walls, bricks, concrete, etc. I'm always amazed at how detailed and intricate the textures on objects are in my lucid dreams.

And while I've had several lucid dreams in my life, I'd say I'm fairly new to it, as only recently I've really begun researching it and exploring it.

It's fun to start randomly opening doors to see what is behind them. BTW this probably shouldn't be in beyond dreaming, just in general lucid dreaming.

Wow, that's awesome! I've only had two lucid dreams up to now, and in both of them they weren't very vivid, and did not last long...
I admire you for testing your subconscious, because that is one of the main things that I want to do in my dreams. I am amazed that you are able to see your reflection so perfectly, it seems most people can't.
Oh, and thanks for having your first ever post on my thread, it means a lot!

I'll have to try the opening doors thing once I can.
That's strange, I thought I posted it in general lucid dreaming, and not in beyond dreaming.

Text is rarely stable in dreams. Actually in my case, I don't recall it ever being stable.

And BTW, your username is offensive.

Why is your location saying Deutschland? is it in Germany? I don't get your profile, it's misleading.

Open doors, cabinets, cupboards, everything that can be opened, open it up and inspect the items. What I find, much to my amazement and wonder, is that everything I find tends to be stuff I own or have owned, even going back quite far into my childhood. I'll be in a village in a forest and I'll open a box in a hut, and there'll be a pair of shoes I had when I was 13. Weird how much is saved and made available in LD's.

Why is it misleading? Deutschland = Germany.

Sorry about my username... Its kind of a nickname I was given since my name starts with "Nat", and I couldn't think of anything else... Again, I apologize.

Hahahahahahahaha... I honestly read your name as "Nah-zee" rather than like Hitler Nazi, probably because I could sense that you weren't here just trolling people like someone going for actual Nazi would be... the misunderstandings that nickname must result in have to be pretty hilarious. I hope you stick around this site and continue to post normal things under that name just for the double-takes.

Thank you, I was feeling down about the whole thing for a little while... And I'm glad that I don't seem like a troll to you, I wouldn't want that, hehe.
I'll continue posting around, it'll be funny if anyone else misunderstands my username name.

Well, people are always going to have things to be offended about. Honestly, we have users with name "penis" "ass" "dickhead" and whatever else you can imagine that others may find offensive. So long as you realize that your username is likely to illicit a certain response in some people, and may result in them reacting to you differently as a result (I can't imagine you would actually want that)...but if you want to change it, just make a thread in Talk To Staff or private message an admin and they'll change it for you this once free of charge. Also just FYI our forum owner is German and might also take offense to the nickname.

So my question is...what exactly does "testing your subconscious" mean? Testing against what? Common lucid dream idiosyncrasies such as looking in a mirror and having it be blurry, or trying to read and being unable, or turning on a light switch and having it not work? Or do you mean just more generally trying to test the limits of your own personal subconscious? Do you have specific tests that you want to try? It's a very broad topic.

Vindicator, regarding feeling and examining textures, whether you know it or not, that is an excellent dream stabilization technique to practice. And my experiences with mirrors have been similar, it's always crystal clear and I really enjoy looking at how sharp and focused my reflection is and really examining it up close.

Has anyone tried forcing yourself into a 3rd person perspective? I have non-lucids where I am in 3rd person, but it's always directly above/behind the 'actor', and the actor is never ME. It'd be really interesting if you could observe YOURSELF from a freely rotatable third person perspective.

Sure. What's even more fun is 360 degree vision. Just trying to imagine it is hard enough when you aren't dreaming. I also like how the perspective angle changes noticeably depending on how tiny or how big I am. I remember once being a droplet of water, and I remember everything looking very fisheye lens style, and then when I was really big the view was all wide angle. Maybe it just happens because that's what the mind expects to see based on photographs that we've seen from the perspective of things that are really small or really big.

Here's a fun lucid task to try: morph into a little angel or demon and ride the lucid dream out on the shoulder of a normal sized version of yourself, giving yourself good or evil advice along the way depending oh whether you were an angel or demon. Maybe you could become both at the same time, AND still control the big normal version of yourself getting the advice. That would be trippy.

If my username bothers too many people or offends them then I will change it, but for now, I would rather not go through any trouble... I'm lazy, hehe. Thanks for telling me!

Well, at first I meant to test the limits of your own subconscious, but the ideas about opening cabinets and doors, etc, caught my interest, so I just kind of went with the flow. But originally I did mean testing the limits of your subconscious.

I tried to go as far in one direction as possible examining as much as possible on the way. I kept finding barriers and people kept chasing me. It was pretty fun. I just leaped the barriers or crawled the walls to get out. It was pretty awesome.

I have my hair long in my dreams. Like it was from ages 12-a month ago my sub conscience misses it like I do.

That is an original idea, thank you for telling me! Oh and by the way, there is stuff that you can do to make your hair grow fast, if you wanted it to.

In a few of my dreams I have 360 vision, firstly it feels really unusual and I thought it was funny how our body could think of a different feeling for vision. But what really surprised me was how detailed the scene was, the fact that I could see everything at once either means that 1) our rains are faster at visualizing than we previously thought 2) it was all just a simulated feeling and I was actually only focusing on one point in my 360 vision 3) our dream is constantly simulated all around us (unlikely I believe because writting almost always changes when you look away from it)

My wife says it looks better short. It probably does too, and when it is short I don't have as many 13-17 year old's checking me out. Which is always awkward.

I'll just have to dream of it being long again and hope that will suffice.

For me I think you cannot control your sub conscious your dreams are behind your head. If you read book now you can probably remember that in your dreams but it doesn't mean that's a perfect test for your subconscious mind.

360 vision? You sir, are one awesome person! But really, I can't imagine how that would be. And your theories are interesting, perhaps number 2 is correct?
