Unhappy I dreamt by boyfriend was dead and he died

About a month ago I started having these dreams where I would wake up from a dream that felt so real I had to check to see if my bf was still breathing. It happened on more then one occasion. I remember the first time. I dreamed that he died in his sleep. I woke up so scared that i rolled over and started pushing on him until he woke up. He did not like that to much (around 4:45am). The next time was a few days later. I dreamed that he had fallen asleep on the couch and passed in his sleep. I woke up and he wasn't in bed and when i went downstairs he was sitting on the couch watching tv. He asked me why i was up. I told him about the dream and he was like silly I am not going anywhere I am fine (again around 4am). Then a few days later I had a dream once more that he died in his sleep. Again I woke up with that feeling of oh my is it real or a dream. So I put my hand on his chest until I could feel him breathing I didn't want to wake him again (4:45am). Once I felt him breathing I was able to fall asleep. Then on November 1st 2015 at 4:48am I woke up to that gut sinking feeling someone bad had happeened to him. He had spent the night at his cousins place. I picked up my phone and tried to message him. No reply but it was almost 5am i figure he must have been sleeping. I couldn't go back to sleep so I kept messaging him with no luck. I was used to him going over there and passing out so i shouldn't have been so worried. But I was so sick to my stomach. Hours went by and nothing from him. This was not like him. We always kept in touch people would laugh at how much we message each other. Anyways in the end the police showed up at our home telling me he had passed in his sleep. around 4:45 am. I don't know what to make of my dreams. Were my reaeams telling me to get ready?

For the last 3 years I had been having nightmares of my gf dying. Although I took it seriously in the beginning, but for the last two years I simply let it go since she was the stronger one in our relationship and was always a constant in my life since we were little kids. However, she passed away recently and I regret very deeply I didn't take my dreams more seriously. Just want to confirm something, has your boyfriend ever told you most of his dreams were nightmares? My gf has been telling me most of her dreams were nightmares for years especially close to her death. The exact reason for her death is still unknown, her organs started failing one by one until she died from complete organ shutdown which was completely different from the very treatable reason she was diagnosed with a month prior to her death.

I think it was a precognitive dream rather than something to help you mentally prepare for it. It was a message to do a serious medical checkup on whatever could be wrong no matter how unnecessary it may have felt at the time - MRI, CT, Ultrasound, blood tests, heart health, blood pressure, and what not.

I don't know whether precognitive dreams truly exist as a form of divining the future, but I have always believed that the subconscious is able to pick up on things that sometimes we cannot explain, and these things might sometimes manifest as dreams. Maybe it was a change in his behaviour or noticing a problem with his breathing pattern while you were sleeping that triggered these fears. Unfortunately not much serious research is being done into apparent 'psychic' or 'magical' behaviours so we might never have the answers within our lifetime due to scientists unwilling to risk their reputation on things that are so easily dismissed as fantasy.

I'm sorry for your loss, and if you believe that what you had was a precognitive dream then I wouldn't let anybody tell you that it wasn't. It could be a useful tool later in your life if you pay attention to them when they happen. Just be careful not to confuse them with regular dreams.

He had told me about some realistic dreams he had been having. Where he would wake up thinking that he had hurt me. He was very much against raising his hand to any woman. They felt so real to him that he would cry and apologize for something he did in his dream.

So sad. Well, i'm pregnant and have been having many nightmares about losing the baby. Very vivid about bleeding everywhere. I had a miscarriage in June and don't recall any dreams - I wasn't paying as much attention to them as i am now. I hope it doesn't come true of course but i'll post again if it does happen. :/

I once had a dream my auntie Marie hung herself, a few years later she did. It's left me feeling guilty, like I could have done something to prevent her death from happening, I was only very young at the time, maybe 13 years old when I had the dream. I'm very sorry your partner passed away, heart breaking to hear.

I am sorry for your loss, and everyone else that has had a similar experience. That is horrible. I don't understand why we have dreams of horrible things happening that come true. Maybe they are a warning, maybe it's something or someone trying to prepare us for our inevitable loss. Maybe we are just somehow seeing the inevitable future.
I personally have never had any dreams of horrible traumatic events in the future.
