      It's the truth...

Alright, i'm bumping this because i have another interesting related tidbit.

i said this in Philosophy's "what sign are you" thread:
"Beyond the personal horoscopes though, I believe a lot can be obtained with astrology. Nostradamus is widely believed to have obtained his gift from the stars - of course, that brings up infinitely more quandaries..."

Bringing up Nostradamus got me thinking about this topic because Nostradamus, whether you support his prophecies or not, did in fact have his own sort of 'end-of-the-world' prophecy.
In paragraph 19 to his preface to his son César, Nostradamus says his prophecies last until the year 3797, which is evident. However, from his context, Nostradamus sees humankind surviving beyond this cataclysm...perhaps on colonies through outer-space exploration...?

Seri sure would enjoy this discussion...

      ****Raises head out of hole.

Some person- "What are you doing Xisdence?"

Xisdence- " Oh im digging a cellar underground where i can live when the world is going to end or humans all wiped ou!"

      Person thinks.

Some person- "What are all these other holes around here then?"

Xisdence- "Haha, theyre all the other times we were supposed to all die."

As interesting as it is, i have a 'cant do anything about it view. It might seem perfectly reasonable now, but in 1000 years if we are still here people will laugh at our thoughts on these subjects, we did at people 4 years ago didnt we??

      just a thought

It is very very risky to believe anything about the year 2012, for one simple reason. It is the most popular doomsday these days. A lot of layers of the astral and especially the lower ones where most travelers, trippers and dreamrs go, are basicly a world shaped from our thoughts. So if lets say 100 000 people continously think about the year 2012 as a day when the world ends , and incorporate into this all the major beliefs about mesiahs and asteroids.. and you have a pretty much stable world in the astral quite nicely defined, with a timeset of the year 2012. It is just normal that any traveler would see it very real and ironically only further increase the thought strength of this projected future.
This is not to say everything is nonsense, honestly i am quite curious myself about the impact of this year , be it a doomsday or an important cosmic crossroad.

that is the most interesting thing ive read in a while....
although i think it would take years and millions of people thought power to even manifest something that could project through the astral into the physical layer....if its even possible to causesuch an event /.

I didn't mean that this focusing on this future would cause it, but just adds to the probability of such future and strengthens its 'image' in the astral world.
Another theory going that the ascension of earth to 4d is near, if that were to happen, earth would coexist on many planes and our shift would end up according to our beliefs and choise of higher self, doomsday believers would get their doomsday and ascension believers their heavens on earth.

I'm surprised so many people don't know about the idea of the apocalypse happening in 2012. I've known about it since i was about 8, the Mayans predicted the end of the world in the year 2012 on the gregorian calendar. There have been many different shows on tv about this subject.

This was also predicted in the so called "Bible Codes" that the world would come to an end in the year 5830 (or something close to that) which in the gregorian calendar is 2012.

kinda of. The bible code says that there will be nuclear war in 2006, and in 2012 there will be natural disaster, but the thing that sucks is we won't even live that long

The gregorian calendar was not used by the mayans... it was after their time.

I think the parallel between 2012 ending the Mayan calendar and 2000 ending our computer calendars is interesting. Remember the Y2K bug? Not quite the end of the world, though ;D

I know 2012 is the year after being converted from the mayan calendar.

I wonder, if the prophesy was true and the world does end in 2012, if before we were born we chose to live during these times(in case one had the chance to do so). I think that is kind of conforting, to know that we chose to live through the end of the world. Its a weird thing to say, but I think that the wisdom that we will gain from the experience will be inmense...

Disclaimer: I mean this in case there was something before and after life...otherwise it would suck.

this is interesting, me and my science teacher were talking today, it would semm that one of America's national parks is basicly a volcano in the making, it WILL errupt in the next 10 or so years (or so scientists believe) if this was to happen, it would cause a mini ice age in America and Canada etc. So this may be the event of 2012, it would mean natural destruction and a sort of rebith at the same time. Just a theory though.

I heard about that volcano to. I think it's somewhere in the mid-west. Maybe near yellowstone park?

Have you guys noticed that in disaester movies the mid-west is almost always untouched by the said disaester?

Here's an interesting site (not a scientific one, mind you!)...
      http://unmuseum.mus.pa.us/supervol.htm

I think that there are several geological organizations that are currently monitoring this location pretty extensively, so there should be some substantial warning if anything were to happen (we hope)!
