I am riding a 3-wheeled bike through a development, visiting several yard sales as I pass through. At one sale, I pick up various vintage electronic items, mainly things with vacuum tubes. They only want $1 for each item, so I buy them all and load up the basket on the bike. As I pedal away, I notice that the bike is very heavy.

I am bicycling up the mountain road with my brother to go pick up my box truck which I left behind a few days ago. Along the way, we stop and pick up some bamboo, then go down a narrow dirt lane. I tell him that I parked it back here near one of the ponds. We arrive at the truck and find that the parking pull-off is flooded and it is up to its frame in flood water.

I am walking through a bicycle junkyard, looking for a different set of handlebars for my bike. I sit on a couple different bikes to check out the handlebars and the last bike I sit on turns into a flying bike. I fly over the junkyard while looking around, then wake up

Of course, flying around on a bicycle is perfectly normal, so I certainly would not become lucid.

I am driving my truck down a small single-lane country road. As a couple of cars approach from the opposite direction, I hold my lane position and flash my headlights. Both cars quickly get out of the way. I arrive at a small house and park my truck beside the garage. A guy walks out of the house and points to a Toyota Camry sitting in the driveway and says, “That's the one.” It's a light tan, late 90's Camry with over-sized tires on it. I look in the window and see that the floor and seats are full of junk. He starts to move all of the stuff and I return to my truck to grab my backpack.

A lady approaches in another Toyota Camry and parks out along the road. She gets out and walks up to me, saying, “This one is 13 years old, so we bought this new one to replace it. It works well, but it's just old.” I reply, “That's not too old. It's just broke in.” She hands me the keys and walks into the house. I open the door of the car, but now there are no seats. The driver side has cushions on the floor and the center console is taking up half of the seating space. I go over to the passenger side and can actually fit in there. The car starts right up and I drive off.

As I'm driving down the single-lane dirt road, it is a struggle to figure out which gear the manual transmission should be in. It has a huge shifter like a road tractor which has entirely too many gear selections on it. As I drive along, constantly fighting with the shifter, I finally give up and pull over. I unfold a bicycle from my backpack and ride off, abandoning the car.

I'm walking around a mall parking lot, talking with my brother who is sitting in his truck a few spaces away from me. As I approach, I see am old yellow bicycle parked in front of his truck. My brother says, "Go ahead and try it."

I try to mount the seat, but it's a bit too high. When I look at it, I can see that the chain is a bit rusty and is not quite seated on the rear sprocket. There is a large silver object attached to the rear wheel which looks like a motor. I walk the bike forward and push on the pedal to straighten out the chain. Once it looks ok, I hop on and start to ride.

I pedal my way across the parking lot, then notice that there is a rocker switch on the right handlebar. I push the switch and the bike starts to accelerate. Once I reach the end of the parking lot, I squeeze the brake levers. The front brake doesn't work at all, but the rear is able to slow me down. I turn around and press the switch in the other direction. The bike takes off and starts to pull the front tire off the ground.

I ride back to where my brother was parked, but he is gone. I look around for a bit, then wake up.

I am riding a bicycle around the parking lot of our local shopping mall. The bicycle moves at will, as I do not have to pedal it at all. Another cyclist asks me, "What kind of bike is that? It looks like it works pretty good." I reply, "It's a piece of junk that I cobbled together from random junk. Have a nice day." I grab the handlebars and the bike takes off through the middle of the parking lot.

Quitting smoking was the worst thing I could have ever done to the dream world. I had zero-recall for about 2 months and have just recently been able to recall small fragments. I usually won't post a fragment to my online dream journal unless I can make at least 3 good sentences out of it. I've had a lot of fragments, at least 3-4 per night for the last few days. This one is the first in which I can recall some dialogue between a dream character and myself. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of my lack-of-nicotine-induced dry spell.
