I'm not sure about the fear. I've just noticed that whenever I become Lucid, it's only for a few seconds after I do an RC to gain focus. Then I get swept away by whatever the dream wants to do, which causes me to lose lucidity or lose control of the dream because I'm no longer actively participating in the dream at that point. I'm just along for the ride, but conscious about it. So I thought that if I learned to stop and analyze what I'm doing before I'm doing it (which is actually a problem I have in waking sometimes, lol) then I'll have more control over the dream.

I appreciate the advice though. I had another LD last night, so I'm getting somewhere with this.

      Gratulations

May i suggest you one thing?
i find it interesting that your "dream" or subconscious or what ever want you to go "left/down the street" apparently. i would follow and see what is there. you should still stay mindful and go slowly like you did but i think it is not a coincidence that you subliminally want to go there. or do you might have something to hide or fear?

Thanks for your comment. I'll do a little experiment and see if I can run to the edge of a dream or something. lol, like SpongeBob.

It appears to stop creating any sort of visuals for the dream at a certain point. Usually for me it is blackness but it doesn't always have to be. Once crossing you can wake up but it's not impossible to manage awareness, while stepping out of a dream scene sound and touch still are active and for me eventually I would see another dream scene appear from a distance and eventually deciding to enter it.

Does anyone know what the "edge of a dream" looks like? Is it just blackness? Has anyone ever tried walking to the edge of a dream? Would you just wake up?

Well writing on a towel for transportation is pretty cool. Summoning people is one of my talents in the Lucid Dreaming state. How I do it is expect for whoever I want to be behind me when I turn around. Not just expecting the person to be behind me when I turn around but actually feeling what it would be like when I turn around.

The key to this working for me is the emotional aspect of really feeling like they are there before I turn around. Just a little advice I hope this helps.

Bartimaeus! I loved thoses books, and I even had a couple of RP characters based on some of their background. Your comment is very true, better dream control will mean better summoning, and being more in control, ie calm and focused helps having longer LD. You could try to summon him like he is in the book, if you're not afraid of ticking him off :p

I think I need to start focusing having better control of the dream before I start summoning, like I did in my Cherry Blossom Dream. I think the LD will last longer that way...

I don't like everything this hombre has to say but this is a good video about nightmares. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1i6A7t6L2g
I would also look into Robert Waggoners book "gateway to the inner self" http://www.amazon.com/Lucid-Dreaming.../dp/193049114X
