    Lucid #182: Office Snacks

I walk into a meeting where most of the attendees are cast members of The Office. I realize that this has to be a dream. Jim Halpert is leading the meeting and as I enter, he says, “Glad you could join us.”

The meeting drones on in the background, but my attention focuses on a large box of snack foods. Each kind of snack food is in its own big cereal bag, clipped shut with a clothespin. Interested, I grab one off the top, remove the clothespin, and open it. The bag has to be unrolled several times (enough times to worry me), eventually unfurling to a length of about two feet.

The bag is full of some form of Chex Mix, and I happily start munching away. As I’m eating, Michael Scott takes the floor and says that “And of course, Pam’s default job will be in engineering.” Most of the meeting stays as a drone as I crunch away on the snacks.

My vision fades out after a bit, but I’m able to keep eating, so I just plow right on ahead. Now the Chex mix that I pull out seems to contain peanut butter on the inside! It’s incredibly delicious and I just keep shoveling it down my pie-hole until
    the dream ends.

Sounds like my type of meeting!
P.S. Do some people use peanut butter as a (lucid) dream food/supplement or aid?

Yeah, people do indeed use peanut butter as a lucid aid! In fact, my trippiest lucid of all time came after eating a whole bunch of peanut butter. I've never been able to replicate the experience w/ peanut butter but it was pretty extraordinary the one time that it worked!

I'd love to see several characters that fit together in the same dream and enjoyed The Office (US version) for many years. Cool!

It was very difficult to read this entry, especially on an empty stomach. Well done being able to reach for the snack despite the packaging challenge. And that peanut butter...

I certainly must conduct my own experiments when it comes to ld induction with peanut butter. I guess it is ok to have a spoon at regular intervals for the sake of lucidity?

@fogelbise - Ah, cool! I've been watching it on Netflix during my workouts for the last several weeks and I've really enjoyed it. Obviously my subconscious enjoys playing with elements of it too!

I know!! That peanut butter, seriously... it was so good. Honestly, dream food gets me so excited. This is just not normal but I can't help myself!

I have never eaten anything in a lucid dream. I know it was TOTM at one point, but I never remembered to do it. Do things taste as expected most of the time for you, or do they change, as with the peanut butter filling?

You're not the only one. I recently had a non-ld where I was so close to tasting this fantastic sundae, but something got me distracted. I seem to manage really nice food quality in non-lds. Must make it a goal to visit a cafeteria or restaurant in an ld! Yes!

It seems to be a little bit of both. Fortunately, the surprises have usually been pleasant ones, such as when I ate a rock and it tasted like a baked treat my mom used to make when I was a kid. Sometimes things seem to taste a little less "substantial" than others, but most of the time dream foods are absolutely delicious. The one major exception was when I ate a bit of skunk. That was vile!

Ohh, wow! I was just thinking that the dream I had last night where I didn't get around to eating some granola bars was a shame, but a dream sundae! That sounds so unbelievably good. Dream food is one of those things that has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Ha! It was skunk meat. It was a wolf transformation, which I hope makes it slightly more normal to have bitten into a live skunk. This was the DJ entry for it:

LOL! Are you really trying to make yourself appear more normal by stressing your lycanthropy?

Will go read your totally normal fauna-skunk dream now.

Ha! It does sound rather futile when you put it that way, yes.
