Dangers of jet engines
I'm using my tablet to watch a short documentary on the dangers of jet engines. It's about three and a half minutes long. In the video, I see an airliner in a hanger with one jet engine firing. A huge orange plume is coming out the back, and (maybe due to misalignment?) it's coming into contact with the fuselage. The metal of the fuselage is turning orange and melting away, leaving a huge gaping hole. Oddly, it seems to be melting the outside of the circle first and working its way inwards. I briefly wonder what's holding up the material in the middle, but i don't give it much thought. I can see into the plane to the seats.
Now I'm sitting on my bed next to my wife, showing her the same video. Normally I wouldn't say "Here, watch this" - I'd just send her the link - but I'm sufficiently amazed by this that I feel she has to see it now.
