    One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happy

I didn't wear my Zeo this night. I felt like a pilot flying a plane without instruments. Also an irregular night because of the nap.

    The Chess Set
2140: C. This was actually a nap in the late evening, but I'll include it in the night recall tally. Lance and I are cleaning up a chess set that has spilled on the floor. The set looks just like the one I had as a kid with rough wooden pieces of beige and brown. We set up the pieces on the board to easily see if any are missing. The cross on the crown of the white king has broken off. We get all the pieces and decide to play. I'm white, Lance is black. I don't remember the moves but I lose.

Then our bosses come along and we tell them about the game. But they are only interested in the chess set itself because Chris bought it. They are praising Chris. Lance is upset that they are ignoring the game and I am doubly upset because I also lost. Chris isn't there but I remember that I found his wallet on the ground. It's a rather plain black leather wallet and rather thick. I put it in my desk drawer for safe keeping until he returns on Monday.
Wow. This dream totally makes sense in a very metaphorical way. Dreams are like that.

    Marooned, The Pittsburgh Pirates
0530: D. I recalled this dream just after the one below it. I'm just guessing at the time. The recall is poor because it got muddled by the subsequent dream. Still, this is the first time I've recalled two separate dreams at once. I'm stuck an a deserted island with three other people. Two are male, one female. It's a tropical island with lots of palm trees. It's more like Robinson Crusoe than it is Lost. There is a calm lagoon. I sit and talk with the woman overlooking the lagoon. We don't think we'll get rescued but I guess we do with an abrupt scene change. Some one tells me that the the Oakland A's beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. I'm surprised and don't believe it at all. (This is just like a scene from Lost with Jack and the Boston Red Sox.)

    Cluttered Office
0706: C. I'm in an office building working. My mother and father are there. I have my own office. Someone comes into my office and remarks how cluttered it is. It looks more like a bedroom crowded with furniture. There's a bed, a dresser, a desk, maybe a bunk bed, and some other furniture. It's so crowded you can't actually open any drawers or climb on the beds. There's only room for me to sit at the desk. I'm supposed to be working but I'm cleaning up the room instead.

I take a bunch of stuff out to the back of the building to toss in the dumpster. There is a small patio lined with vines. At this point, the scene feels more like my old house in SAV. I meet my father out there. He asks "What are you doing around the humid dumpster?" I notice that it's bright, hot and humid outside. I lift and drop some things in the dumpster and then I notice flies and insects in and around it. I turn around and see bees flying around the flowers in the vines. I'm grossed out and run inside through a sliding glass door. There are a few insects crawling on the floor inside and I try to shoo them out. End.

    Virtual Reality Game With "Iceman"
1119: C. I'm playing a first-person shooter game using futuristic virtual reality suits. The "real" world is a clean futuristic spaceship like Star Trek. The "virtual" game world is also futuristic but rougher, like Halo or Gears of War. The game takes place in a forest with sunlight spilling through the canopy. It reminds me of a map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Both scenes are moderately well lit.

So I'm playing this game with a team against another. On our team is Val Kilmer who is just like his character "Iceman" from Top Gun. I'm jealous of how good he is. We are beating the other team. The other team's captain is a mild-mannered middle-aged man. At one point, our team pulls out the lightsabers and chainsaws. But the other team stops the game and complains. They are afraid they will die for "real" if they are cut by a chainsaw. I think they should have to forfeit for this, but we keep playing without the gruesome melee weapons because Iceman is such a calm and confident guy. We win easily.

We exit the game and are back on the spaceship. The captain of the ship looks like the chief instructor from Top Gun. He congratulates a few people on the team for their great play, especially Iceman. I don't get any praise. I only did okay. I feel jealous.
