      Trouble waking up from lucidity

Recently I have had trouble waking up from lucid dreams. I can usually wake myself up in a dream by opening and closing my eyes and saying "wake up, wake up, wake up." But last night, I couldn't. I kept thinking I was awake, but would then realize I was still dreaming.

This wouldn't scare me so much if I hadn't slept from 11:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. the next day.
I have read that you can't get trapped in the dream state because eventually your body just isn't tired anymore, and you will stop having REM sleep. That doesn't seem to happen to me. I can REM into eternity.

Any thoughts? I'm a little freaked out today.

You could always try killing yourself. It wakes many people up but for some it does just cause false awakenings. If you do try this just be sure to preform a couple reality checks when you wake up. You said that you tried closing/opening your eyes while saying wake up, but have you tried doing it more violently? When you close your eyes, close them as tight as you can, like when you get something in your eye, and then open them as fast and hard as you can. While doing this it also helps to visualize yourself lying in your bed or wherever you fell asleep. If you combine these two you will likely wake up when trying this. Just be sure to RC when you wake up so double check for false awakenings.

I highly doubt then you could REM/dream into eternity and dreaming for 12 hours could just be a coincidence. If these keeps happening though, it could be something else. Good luck and remember, you'll always wake up

I was going to recommend that too. Should work as long as you haven't been overdosing on videogames where you die often. Because we don't know what happens when we die, it's like a computer program calling a function that isn't there. It returns an error and crashes the program or dream. Too many video games can create a temporary concept of what is supposed to happen at death, and the dream will recreate that concept.

Last time I wanted to wake up, I jumped on the hood of a moving car and made it drive into a large sign at high speed. Worked like a charm!

WOOOOOW!!!!! You shouldn't try and exit. See how long you can LD for! I mean, your body will eventually wake up, so theres nothing to be scared of.
