      Lucid Nightmare After 1st Lucid

I had my first lucid the other night, it started off set in the dark, short story, my sister screamed for me, my mom was pulled out the window by a jaguar, a man was in the bathroom with a knife, then it was a different man with a shot gun..i grabbed my sister and ran. turned into a mall, different items on each floor, realized the men had something like a map or codes that belonged to my little sister, so i started chasing them,, eventually flew to try to catch them quicker..sister was on the phone, and told me everything was ok. So after i realize everything was good, i realized i had flown, so i thought, wow i must be dreaming, cool. lol. so I looked around and I was on a familiar road, I decided to fly in the direction i wasnt so familiar with, and i managed to fly easily, and came across a pond, and flew down over it, skimming the water with my fingertips..
lost control, i guess cause im not an experienced flyer lol and have never flew before.. but it was so beautiful, and felt amazing.

After this dream however, I have managed to become lucid again, but all my dreams i remember have taken place in the dark, a night setting, and when i became aware that something was not quite right, instead of saying, oh cool, im dreaming, i felt like i was in another demention, like an alternate reality. I thought i was stuck so to say, in this dream, this real place..and had an anxiety attack, thinking i was going to be stuck forever.. and the walls and images around me were shaking and going in and out and melting.. and i couldnt realize that it was a dream, i thought it was a real place i had somehow went to..

any ideas of why i felt that way? why couldnt i realize it was a dream? even though i realized something about this "world" wasnt real?...

Hi! Congratulations on the lds! Sorry to hear the second part wasn't as nice as you expected.

Dreams can be so real and life-like even if you are in a magical forest you may think it is true world even an alternative dimension. Dream logic also makes us accept weird things for normal. From what you have written the second dream sounds like low-level lucidity, kind of semi-lucid. Basically, you have the knowledge that this is a dream somewhere at the back of your mind, but you still follow the majority of the plot or whatever is happening in the dream. It is quite easy to get distracted while lucid, so it's always a good idea to have a few goals, things that you want to do in the dream to help you be more focused, like flying, looking for a particular person, item, etc. I think with more practice you will be able to develop higher dream awareness and navigate in the dreamworld with greater ease.

As NyxCC said, sounds like you just weren't as aware as you could've been. Just remember that nothing in a dream can harm you, and that nothing is really scary in a dream unless you let it be. With more practise, you will get better at staying in control and better at raising your awareness to a higher tier.

Hey Congrats on the Lucids bro ^_^, I think a good technique for you is in reality, whenever something scares you or startles you you should do a reality check. Eventually you will most likely do them during nightmares and then hopefully become lucid and escape from that situation ^_^.
